By saying "pleading as a father" he's basically suggesting that Lebron needs some parenting advice which is a complete joke. Bronny is doing just fine and Lebron is a better father than SAS will ever be

unfortunately many are waiting for that one nagging injury that never quite heals after 40.

weeks have the foot/ankle, and now we have a groin…

that day is coming, but would really love to see two healthy playoff runs with this group first.

i think it's good for some of these media clowns to have to come face to face with the people they're yapping about incessantly.

it's one thing for us to yack on here, where we're our only audience, but smith gets the ear of millions (sigh), and his stupid rants shape opinions, unfortunately.

how long is the list of draftees that bronny is currently outperforming, btw? in what way is bronny's life being adversely affected by his father's actions? seriously. i know shutting the f*** up isn't SAS's strong suit, but i'm guessing he'll be a bit more choosey with his words regarding lebron going forward.

    clown.

I say he should lean into it. Get louder. Lebron is retiring anyways. :)

This f***ing guy. The tour continues.

Is he going to write a book on this? Maybe get movie deal. At least a 30- for-30. ESPN is paying him $100m, might as well.

Claire nailed it on the head.

Smith had several moments when he could have said any of this to LeBron’s face so I won’t be entertaining his press tour.

Also, if Jordan had done this there would still be tales of his killer instinct, etc.

he also really sidestepped why lebron was after him. which, of course he did, because he knows he was in the wrong, as are all of these talking heads much of the time.

i'll repeat that i think lebron getting in SAS's face is a good thing, not for lebron or bronny but for the people on both sides of the industry. at some point, you can't just say incendiary things and be an a****** and just expect to profit without any pain. lebron's status allows him to do stuff like this that i'm sure MANY others would like to do. it's good for SAS to know it's possible to maybe wet yourself on national tv.

I thought what SAS did in the follow up interview was important since Lebron likes to control the narrative. He twisted the original message SAS did prior so he could create the confrontation. Lebron deserves as much heat as any other professional for his decisions and nepotistic actions. Bronny wasn't ready and wasn't deserving of a guaranteed 8mil per year contract. I'm glad someone called it out. He may end up being a professional ball player, or he may never stick in the big leagues - time will tell.

But you're stepping out of your lane if you're asking a reporter not to do his job and report on the situation YOU created. Get over it.

and I'm NO FAN of Screamin' @rse Smith.

That's a pretty stupid statement. Sure you know you're body but it's not like you have a huge sample size in any lifetime of the same injury. We have things like ultrasound and MRi for a reason

listening to Rich Paul that's not exactly what he's saying - more that Lebron has played a lot of basketball and they're just going to see how it recovers. Not very definitive either way about recovery time

Au contraire the FO had a very good idea of how quickly they expected Bronny to improve over his uniquely messed up by heart condition and corrective procedure on it …. ONE college season. As has been borne out with his significant improvement in the G-League …. to give him the contract they actually did. As opposed to “8M per year”?? C‘mon now. Conversely it’s going to turn out to be a great cost controlled signing IMO.

2024-2027 Rookie. Bronny James signed a 4 year, $7,895,796 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, including $4,371,403 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,973,949. In 2024-25, James will earn a base salary of $1,157,153, while carrying a cap hit of $1,157,153 and a dead cap value of $1,157,153. With team option on year 4.

yeah, not sure what situation lebron created. he said he wanted to play with his son, like anyone would. his son was drafted 55th--typically a complete throwaway pick. like mark cuban once took some random tall indian guy there for marketing purposes. bronny's not famous because lebron wanted him to be; he was going to be regardless...because of people like SAS, ironically.

lebron basically took a paycut near the amount of his son's salary to ensure that he'd get a chance to develop--hence the two years guaranteed (but it's only two!).

it's a big nothingburger and has been the whole time, imo.

Hopium isn't fact though. We hope he improves and is effective for his size in the pros. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. We've seen plenty of all time greats in the G league that never made the pros.

Let me know how many NBA players you see on this all time leader chart for G League: https://stats.gleague.nba.com/alltime/

oh, and I see my age has left me misremembering his annual contract amount vs the total value. Maybe I was blinded by generational hate.

I said it was IMO. Vs generic wait until he actually shows us, or worse others just completely dismissing the possibility of him becoming a rotation player at “some point”. And thus a smart and great cost controlled investment for 4 years even if it doesn’t happen until year 3. Not out of realm of possibility it happens sooner, once the 3s start to drop on the varsity. They will. IMO.

    Nooooooooo :giggle:
