Anyone who thinks Harden is a better choice than Klay right now, needs to rethink some choices.

Klay with LeBron has to be ALMOST equal to Klay with Steph.

    ALMOST.

Well, there goes that, no MLE for us. Sorry though, can’t complain about no moves made now, he was a free agent, could have joined any team in the league to try to get a ring.

yeah, and as we're discussing in the other thread, the fake offer of a salary cut does not give him carte blanche to try to trade everyone in february again. in the end, i think that was just another attempt to pressure the FO into making a bad move.

I see so much enthusiasm here!

To quote Ron Artest at the infamous 2010 championship press conference, "Why aren't you excited?"

And they didn't take the bait. Nice. The coaching hires, Max signing a team friendly deal along with already having AR, drafting DK4, we are actually building around AD. With Vando and the little dude from Miami healthy we are very close. We even brought Bronny in to replace his dad as a defender in the 4th qtr. Smart.

Dwyane Wade was right about LeBron...guy is all about his money no matter how much money he's made in his life...he'll never ever take a paycut

I’m really hoping this is the last season of Lebron. I appreciate his contributions to getting us #17, but I’ve had enough of the guy.

I believe that this could be a thing.
Surely, guys understand how difficult it is to build a deep team when one dude is getting paid $50 million per and can’t play D anymore.
I also think they know the window has closed on the AD\LeBron pairing.
Even if we added Klay, we would still not be good enough to compete with the best teams because TWO of your starters would be severely handicapped on the defensive end.

i'm not a huge lebron defender, and i've complained about his effort a lot, but his defense is actually still passable despite him being super old and much slower than he once was. most of this is just size and incredible hoop iq, but he's not the drag on defense that say, steph curry has become as he ages.

again, defensive metrics are really imperfect, but for example, jerami grant's very best defensive season (many years ago) grades out like lebron last year. grant's been a net negative on defense for years running now.

anyway, the reason people don't want to play with lebron is we have no money to pay them, lol. and yes, there is truth that he generally escapes blame, which means his teammates get it (AD has probably gotten this treatment more than anyone, btw). or rob gets it, or whatever.

i believe thompson definitely thought about what it was like to be "not steph" and then being "not lebron"--though i wonder if he considered that luka is also kind of a big deal (though luka took all the criticism despite being the only maverick to show up in the finals). dallas is just not under the microscope like la, though.

i actually think people still want to play with lebron, despite all the issues, though. there's no great way to tell, but it's a bad argument to point at us not signing anyone when we had no money or roster spots and blame lebron.
