I am pretty convinced that Bron will up his defense if we end up in the playoffs. Dennis plays good on-ball defense as well. Reaves is a deceptively good defender. PatBev can defend for sure, as long as he keeps covering smaller guards -- he gets these assignments to guard bigger SGs and some SFs and he's simply outmatched at that point. (I am not a fan of his, but he gets the blame for things that are out of his control.) Gabriel is an alright defender in spurts, but his problem is similar to Bev's -- only against centers, of course.

That about sums it up, because the rest of the players aren't really good on D: Bryant (no real defensive awareness, doesn't rotate well), Lonnie (willing, but no defensive fundamentals), Nunn (should be better on paper, but something is wrong with him mentally IMO), Russ (space cadet on defense).

AD really does make our defense significantly better and erases a lot of mistakes other people make.

A rook, and very young, but definitely Christie too. Vogel wound up giving same aged THT some run in the Bubble playoffs.

These guys have been busting their a**es the last 5 games to prove all the doubters wrong. Him making a public statement like this does nothing but kill a locker room. Do we need to make a move? Yes. But it doesn’t need to come out of his mouth smh.

I'm sorry. This made me laugh out loud while waiting for an order at Denny's currently.

In no way is our front office doing what’s best for the franchise. They are hopelessly inept and got us into this mess with their eyes wide open. I am not a LeBron apologist but I can’t abide anyone painting Pelinka, the Rambii, Jay Mohr, or any of the other FO clowns in a good light.

In other news, he's been playing at an MVP caliber since his return from injury. He has made 10+ FGs on 50%+ shooting in 13 straight games. James on court: 122.7 ORtg, 111.8 DRtg, +10.9. James off court: 105.4 ORtg, 121.3 DRtg, -15.9. ON/OFF +26.8.

Yeah.... I don't care. He is a self-centered, pumpered, egotistical narcissist (yes, most of these mean the same, that's how bad he is) that certainly doesn't have the franchise priorities first.

For him to criticize the FO, after that franchise-killing Westbrook trade he is trying to distance himsefl from, is really rich.

And if you don't think that's what he did, I have a like-new bridge in a prime location to sell.

Here I was enjoying the 5 game winning streak and thinking this team is showing enough potential to warrant making a trade to bring in help, but now my day is ruined.

I can’t believe this egotistical scumbag was suggesting that this team is starting to show enough potential to warrant making a trade to bring in help!

Sure we don’t have video to know his tone, and actually reading his full quotes instead of the headline suggests that his frustration was mostly with Amick repeatedly trying to goad him into fueling a narrative, but I am still FUMING at this piece of crap.

As far as I’m concerned, he’s pretty much a war criminal for pushing for the Westbrook trade. I’d send him to Azkaban if I could. At this point I can’t in good conscience root for him to win another championship. It will be so sweet to see him meltdown when he misses the playoffs again!

Can’t wait till this Micky Mouse ring narcissist is gone and we can go back to the glory days of being Lamarcus Aldridge rejects

As long as he continues to produce he's fine with me. I've dealt with plenty of egotistical/narcistic stars on the Lakers and in sports in general. It comes with the territory of greatness. Once he's washed though, he should kindly retire or go back to Cleveland.

i'm glad he's trying to do some damage control, but reading the full transcript annoyed me more because it was definitely clear what amick was trying to do, and lebron walked away...and then turned around and gave him exactly what he wanted! unbelievable. just shut him down.

as long our FO doesn't get pressured into another franchise crippling deal, i don't care, either. be mad. collect your paycheck and play well. if you don't do the latter, start steppin'. if you want to be a gm, call up jordan in charlotte or something.

In spite of all the months long (sky is falling and Rob screwed the pooch with this terribly put together low on talent off season acquisitions roster bashing) that went on amongst us and the media …. it’s been slowly unravelling …. as proof’s becoming apparent the talent the FO decided to invest in from what was available …. is actually there throughout the roster except for Jones not working out.

And one smaller deal with with Bev and Nunn /? away from giving us a shot at the NBA “finals”. One or two new quality players “of need” coming back. And same as any other team ….. health for our two most important stars. So we’re that CLOSE and maybe it’s time to stop s******* on Jeanie and the FO?

I know we’re winning and it’s great, it’s fun, but I think we need to relax a bit. LeBron is having to put up like 35-37 ppg for us to do so while averaging 36 minutes per in year 20, it’s unprecedented. We aren’t a great team, LeBron is that good of a player, and it isn’t sustainable. If we don’t make some moves to address our lack of depth I can’t see this going on much longer, especially with Reaves and Walker out at least 2 weeks. I’m not going to pat Rob on the back for the team winning despite all odds and in spite of the nonsensical roster he put together. He made some good signings, I don’t recall ever saying different, I praised both the Bryant and Schröder signings and have been saying for a while that Shröder is still good we just don’t use him right, but on the whole it was still a bad roster, too many guards, too small, imbalanced.

Team’s better than you give credit to it. What part of a deal for one or two more key players back plus AD and LeBron healthy together did you miss?

And Walker, Brown, Anderson, Gabriel and Christie suck?

If the team were as good as you’re talking about we wouldn’t need KEY players back in a trade. That implies we lack KEY players, key to winning, which we DO. Fact of the matter is the FO never had faith in LeBron and AD, that’s why they left the team as it was after the Bev trade, content to just play it out and get off Russ’ money and avoid repeater tax. Everything we have seen points to this. You can’t tell me that having to carry this roster didn’t contribute to AD having a stress injury, that’s on the FO. Nobody foresaw Schröder playing this good either, especially bombing from 3, which is great, but I also don’t think sustainable. The FO doesn’t get credit from me for these guys playing way above their level because they have to.

What I do agree on is that we are a few good moves away from being in the mix, the West is wide open, Denver is #1 and we own them. This would be the time to go all in, one last shot at a title, and yet here we are waiting for another date to come and go. What is it now, January 15th? Then what, the actual trade deadline? I’ll give Rob and the FO credit when they make moves that show commitment to something beyond one year at a time. As it stands now all the good of this season will be gone again just like the good of last season, because we stupidly operate with a 3 star model and mostly minimums. That will once again cost us Walker and Bryant walking, and we have to HOPE that we retain Reaves unlike with what happened with Caruso. How anyone can put any faith in this FO to build competently is beyond me, they make some good signings for sure, but what does it matter if they aren’t around longer than a season? Terrible asset management, sign of a bad FO.

I added on above while you were typing and rather than keep ranting at them expecting the worst in the future which is just that we don’t know … I’m talking about this season and one good trade with the players mentioned.
