I can see him coming here for two years, gutting the team and then we both will be watching 30 wins team for the next decade.

Your willingness to risk it all for a second round (at best) exit for 2 years is astounding to me.

I am, however, pretty sure our idiot of a president will just go for it, to prove how amazing his “vision” is, so you will get your wish.

 

As for what am I waiting for? Are you kidding me? We have a bunch of very promising young guys that, given veteran guidance and a non-idiot coach may just get us to that coveted second round exit. But will have a chance to improve the team for a decade as they grow together.

 

My problem is that he won’t join to the team as it is, precisely for the reason you stated.

So, he’ll play GM. God save us all.

Him joining just as a max slot is the absolute BEST case. Not counting on it.

To me, it's better than winning 50 for the next 2 years, not really winning jack and then getting back into winning 20, because LeBron sold everyone and jumped ship.

I want to see this team grow. I want a non-idiot coach (or miraculously, this one getting smarter). I want organic growth because, long term, it is more sustainable and easier to adjust.

You know, I am thinking stuff like:

even this season, if we had, say, Steven Adams instead of Lopez and a competent SG instead of KCP (and some other coach), we'd be in the playoffs.

 

Zen, how are we mortgaging the future, when we are the 3rd youngest team in the league, even with Deng on the roster. As Savs has said, you got a bunch of these guys are rookie/team-friendly deals, so how else would you round out the roster if you end up gutting the team for max type guys? It makes more sense to use up the cap room to bring in 2 max types then see how the youngn's vibe with them. Zo and Brony have some kind of bromance going for them and you think LaBron will want to ship him out? The same LaBron that was practically begging for a point guard at last year's trade deadline, and that team had Kyrie freaking Irving. LaBron wants to play with a ball distributing point guard and Ball is clearly the guy that fits that description. If you account for him getting to 30K points and wanting to challenge Kap's record, then he's going to need a point that can set him up for easy scores.

But lets take this one step further. If LaBron was truly the GM, he would have gotten that point guard last year. He would have gotten Bledsoe and George this year. The fact of the matter is LaBron doesn't respect Gilbert, so why would he respect his paper? He leveraged re-upping in Cleveland to get his Klutch posse (ie TT, JR Smith) paid. But I doubt he does that with our FO. He really doesn't have a reason to. He wants to play with stars, which is why he was against trading Kyrie and was upset when a potential Kyrie for George trade was pulled in favor of a trade that landed (at the time) a top 3 pick in the BK pick. Having a hobbled IT was just adding insult to injury at that point.

 

LOLOL at LeBron saying all that when everyone knows he's leaving including Gilbert. He wouldn't commit. Kyrie's not stupid (well aside from the flat Earth thing), plus he'd had enough of his experience playing with the guy. How was that "gap" going to be bridged?

 

I could not have been clearer. It is mortgaging the future because I doubt lebron will come to the team leaving it unchanged.

We’d be lucky to have 1 of the young guys left, instead having to pay lebron cronies, like Tristan is being paid by CLE right now. Does he even play?

He’s an all time great.....a-hole

But seriously, he’s starting to pay the price for heavy minutes this year. His effectiveness is declining dramatically even if he’s putting up numbers. With that mileage, if they are smart, they are playing him closer to 30 minutes.

Problem is they are all sucking this year and in a tough stretch. The crack in the armor is showing though, and it will be interesting to see how he handles the inevitable decline from here.

 

I prefer the leading style of “do as I do” vs “do as I say, but don’t do, and by the way, cover my butt at all times or I’ll humiliate you on national TV”

But that’s just me. Maybe our impressionable young players and management prefer that style of leadership.

 

That’s like saying I prefer Byron Scott over.... never mind lol

But I’d rather have the right type of leader vs the wrong type. He still has a lot to offer, but I would definitely prefer it’s not with us.
