lost amidst all the dunking on nico harrison was that i feel like his point about time frames was accurate. you don't make ten-year plans in the nba. it makes no sense. 3 years is about as far out as you can form reasonable expectations. in five years, cbas can change dramatically as well as many other variables that you don't control.

the luka acquisition looks like it will both a) extend lebron's ability to play and b) put us in a situation where we're not in full star-hunt mode for at least 3-4 years. this is all you can ask for, imo.

maybe luka breaks down at age 32 like some stars; maybe he plays well until late 30s like others. but for the window during which planning is reasonable, we have one of the league's best players.

and yes, when lebron does retire, we'll miss him a lot. but at least now we won't be where we were when kobe retired.

It really is unreal JJ and acquiring Luka has Lebron playing like he's younger on defense and in the 4th.

I thought the defense was only going to be there till AD returned pre trade but with Luka he maybe able to get away being the corner man for half a game resting on offense now

Also, adding Luka is like one of the most prized assets in the league right now outside of Wemby (although, he's dealing with a serious blood clot and that stuff can get tricky) and MAYBE Jokic because Joker is older at age 30.

If it doesn't work out with Luka, the Lakers are in a position where they can get a massive haul unlike anything we've ever seen by trading Luka.

AD at age 31 wasn't going to do that.

At the very least, championship or no championship, the Lakers future is much better with Luka on the team as a safety measure.
