If one frame is worth 1,000 words what are those worth or any of the other LBJ deuche gifs. But read my sig .... have started again toward the dark side. I just hope it all goes obviously bad out of the gate in OKC. Come home first PG before we have to sign this guy.

So @vasashi17 & @therealdeal, do you expect LLLLLabron to continue to sign short contracts? I don't.

I expect him to know LA will be his last stop, and want a max year, max money contract.

So assuming, he comes next year and signs a max contract, here are the facts:

Labron turns 33 this December, so for his first year on the team, he will be almost 34 when he signs next year.

Here is a projected salary chart for this year:

Now let's just assume these numbers from this year don't go up or down significantly next year just as a base to work within.

If he signs a 4 year contract at max projected next year as a 10+ year player with a new team, he will be making about:

(A player's salary can increase by 5% each year, max 4 years)
    1st year- $35,350,000 at 34 years old
    2nd year- $37,117,500 at 35 years old
    3rd year- $38,885,000 at 36 years old
    4th year- $40,652,500 at 37 years old

Numbers are approximate, but his age isn't...

We will be paying a player in the last three years of his contract $116,655,000 ending when he's 37 years old.... In four years (2020/2021) the salary cap is expected to be around $114,000,000.

Name a player that's ever been worth nearly a third of the teams salary cap
($40,652,500) at age 37. Even Wilt was only averaging 13pts by age 36.

And here's the kicker... these numbers for Labron's contract WILL actually probably be higher because next year the max contract numbers will go up from this chart.

Second kicker... I think we can all agree a team usually doesn't just gel and win a title instantly, so there's another year gone by minimum, and he's now 35 by the time we MIGHT be ready to compete for a title if we can surround him with the right pieces.

And people complained about Kobe's contract hampering us in his final years, what do you think Labron's contract will do?

If we get PG or Westbrook to come along, ok, it would be worth the risk because we would actually have a chance, but I think it's crazy to want Labron at his age, knowing what his contract will be, without the assurance of signing another All Star.

Glad you found the stash of gifs, but I was referring to his shrinking testicles during crunch time.

Unless you are suggesting Lebron has a 6'6" penis, then that would make him a really big d***.

I'm sorry but the old saying beggars can't be choosers is kind of hitting me hard with the current talk on this thread. Do I love Lebron? Nope. Do I like him even? Not really. But you know what? The fact that we are even talking about possibly landing him here is huge. I love it because it's a boost to our relevancy after years of every name FA wanting nothing to do with us.

If we end up getting Lebron I'll be for it because he's the biggest name FA that there is. Hopefully if we do it will make it easier to land another one or two FA's as well such as George.

Sign him to a 4 year max deal, and then trade him to Suckramento.

No, I'm suggesting the Ball LaBron will have is 6'6" and I don't consider that as having small ballz. :Magicwink:

But it looks like you're suggesting that I'm a really big d***. :Lukewaltonlook:

@vasashi17 if Labron signs a 1&1 contract, I'd be much more pro getting him.

I'm afraid of his age and millage more than anything else, so I could swallow that contract (I'd still not like him personally, but I never especially liked Kobe personally. I just respected his game and mentality).

But like I've said repeatedly, I don't think that's what he will push for. He'll want that final big contract.

Chief, I think LaBron will continue to sign short deals with option years. Remember, he can always push management via Rich Paul to give him an extension after year 2 of any contract we give him. This way, he allows flexibility towards our roster to continue to bring his bronanas in and he still gets paid. Over the course of his career, he's sacrificed money to do so. I don't feel he's going to stop that blueprint now, especially with all his lucrative off the court endeavors he currently has. Looks like Durantulame is doing the same thing for the Dubs with a chance to get into bed with Lacob after his playing days are over. The Silicone Valley has its perks :Brows:

However, lets say he does sign a long term deal. The Lakers just went through the worst era of their existence yet led the league in profitability. If you're concerned with cap flexibility, once we get 2 max players next summer, we can bust through the cap ceiling and become tax payers. We have proven that we are lucrative even in a losing position and I'm positive management has no problem paying tax on a roster they believe in. Not to mention, we'll still have young talent on rookie deals that will allow us to maneuver around any cap restrictions we potentially could face.

Long story short, I personally ain't concerned with LaBron or any other star's salary constraints on this team. Comparing it to Kobe's contract, we clearly were in a rebuild period so it affected our cap maneuverability. It was long scrutinized cause Kobe is a win-now player sitting on a rebuilding team so there was no direction we committed to moving forward...and then there was the playing him so thin where he had to be on the bench recovering during the most expensive years of his deal. As I mentioned in my previous posts, this league is soft as f*** right now and LaBron has exploited it. I have a good feeling he will not endure what Kobe had to. Also recall that the NBA didn't have the huge cable deal and Nike deal that they just locked down, so the salary cap was far lower during Kobe's day. For comparison: Kobe's 25M per with a salary cap of 78M vs max player of 34M with a 99M salary cap.

We have by far the best local cable deal in the business with Spectrum and we just locked up Wish as a jersey sponsor for the next 3 years. We opened doors to the best team facility in the business and our merch keeps selling even with players that have so far lost on the back of them. We're gearing up to make a huge financial splash...all signs point to it. So as a fan, player salary is the least of my concerns....and as a team, they too don't seem to be too concerned. Cap flexibility is the issue, but as I stated before, there is more money in the pool and the new CBA just got picked up for an extension till 2024, so both the players and owners like maneuvering within it.
