But we can not count only the shots he made in the clutch without counting the amount of shots that he missed. It's not a secret that Kobe wasn't very efficient in the clutch (In comparision to other superstars). The highlights and game winners are great but we have to count every shot/possession.

some things stats don't adequately explain

I'd rather have a star with the balls to demand the last shot. At least if Paul George comes at the same time, Lebron will have the closer he sorely needs to be successful. He's possible the best player ever in quarters 1-3

Yes, but what these stats dont tell is that Kobe would keep shooting as long as there was a theoretical chance (e.g. Down 10 with a minute left) and thereby screw percentages, while most others (Lebron especially) would pass it/dribble it out.

Not getting into the GOAT discussion and respecting your opinion BTW, just think the approach to crunch time matters.

Yes, I've seen both players do exactly that a few times. But I don't think this is a measure of how many shots a player can shoot. The efficiency has to be very important too. And Kobe's usage rate in the clutch was usually very high but his TS% was below average. And I can't ignore that if I want to be objective about this subject.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Kobe may have not been as efficient as Lebron in the clutch, but he damn as well had the balls to take them his entire career. He doesn't care what you think, the reason why he has 5 rings is because he missed those shots.

What's funny is that I find Kobe airballing those 3's in Utah in the playoffs as one of the most defining moments of his career.

Why? Because it drove him to become better. Because that's the player he is. I'm sure it ate at him until he practiced those shots every night until every shot went in.

Yeah I remember that. And I agree with everything you said.

In conclusion I just hope that the Lakers front office can make the right decisions next summer. I'm just tired of them making stupid signings and trades. I just really want to see the young guys develop and maybe sign a few solid FAs. If LeBron and George decide to go to the Lakers that would be great for the franchise but I'm still not sure how all those pieces are going to work together. Specially when The Warriors exist.

The Warriors have probably 2 more years of being able to afford Curry/Durant/Thompson until someone throws the max at Thompson and he takes it and leaves.

Which gives the Lakers 1 year of development and culture building to compete. We don't have a draft pick this year, so there's no incentive to tank. .

I still don't understand why people are still skeptical of Lonzo. His influence was there in High School, he won a State Championship. His influence was there in college, he took them deep into the tournament and post some of the highest offensive and efficiency numbers UCLA saw in years. IMO, it was his influence that turned guys like Leaf and Anibogu, into higher draft picks than scouted. Then he showed it again in Summer League, recording Triple Doubles and instilling a pass first mentality that resonated even when he wasn't playing.

Ingram will definitely have a breakout year. When we started seeing flashes of what he could do in the 2nd half of last season, EVERYONE was salivating at his potential. Randle is a player who I see will benefit the most from Lonzo. It fits his style of transition play.

When you bring guys like of the George and Lebron caliber, there's really no question about their fit. They're pros. It'll take a couple months of adjustment, but it'll work. See Durant. Then at that point, you have vets lining up to play on minimum or exception contracts like the Warriors and Cavs had the past couple years

As for the Front Office, they've done a specatular job this year at scouting, drafting, and remaining patient in Free Agency and the Trade Market. What was once a shroud of doubt with Russell and having another albatross contract like Mozgov, turned into Lonzo, Kuzma, all star caliber Center Brook Lopez on an expiring, defensive ace Pope on a one year deal, a Summer League Championship, and a culture of team basketball and winning. Outlook is good.

I don't know why I'm trying to stir the pot because frankly I'm getting tired of all this Lebron talk, but here's another log on the fire.

This open flirting just has to piss off Gilbert right? Even if LeBron doesn't come here, I like that Gilbert is having to sit through this.

"One of the few that's always showed love from day 1 to me!"

Well that seems like a blatant shot at some and also a praise for us.

He got the championship and all the money in the world. Why would he care on an emotional level?
