Shoot it! Then Get the long rebound and go miss the layup or shoot it off the side of the backboard!

Maybe with this injury. When he comes back he becomes more of a post up player. Once in a while do some highlight dunks but man if he just became a post up player, it would pro long his career and i bet our offense would look so much better with him getting double teamed

Jordan changed it up and was still a dominant scorer. Lebron has the ability to do the same thing. The move I'd like to see him copy from the original AD, is that face up, slight hesitation and BAM!! Blow by you with that quick first step. That was a killer move, and it set up his little set shot, because people feared that blow by, and backed off of him conceding that jumper. He worked off of that constantly, if you press up on him, he went by you, you back off, he nailed easy jumpers.

I think Lebron would excel with that. Right now he prefers the jab step, fall away J, it's not as effective IMO. Luka is young, but he plays that old school game too. He rarely gets off the floor on his shots. Yet he has that quick first step, great handle, and the body size to brush of contact and get off good shots. Ironically I look at Luka, as the way I can see Lebron playing, once he gives up beating you with his high flying, barreling to the paint, athletic type of game. The problem with Lebron is that he's still able to pull that off, after 20 years in the League. It's remarkable, but it also probably contributes, to him being injured a lot as he ages. It's kinda hard to tell a guy that he needs to change up his game, when he's still successful playing that way.

This is the move we need to see

I'm only half-joking, he actually has a nice hook but no one seems to want to make that a big part of their bag nowadays. It's a shame as it is nice complement to the Dirk Turn-arounds he likes

agree mostly, but lebron has nowhere near the eye-hand coordination that luka does. it's insane how good he is with the ball in his hands. he's a much more natural ballhandler and shooter than lebron is. but still...no reason lebron can't train himself in the midrange arts. it was what i always imagined for him before he decided to go steph curry on us.

Luka is another unique talent, you can't replicate everything he does. What Lebron could emulate tho, is the way Luka probes you first with a hard dribble, and then leans into you with that big body, when you recover, in order to create space for his shot. He draws a lot of contact fouls with that move too. James tends to get you off balance in a similar fashion, but he continues his dribble in order to get to the rim. I think he should just shorten the dribble, and pull up for the jumper. Lord knows that Lebron doesn't get the calls that he deserves, on a lot of those forays into the paint anyway. I'd like to see more jumpers.

I don't know what happened with his 3 ball this season, he was trending up with that shot. Now it's going left, he could cut down, on some of the random parking lot bombs IDK. I absolutely hate that end of the game, jab step, jab step, fall away 3 attempt tho.

i think luka's threat as a shooter from everywhere makes some of that stuff possible, though. you look at his percentages and don't think he's a great shooter, but he absolutely is, and teams know it. lebron doesn't get that same respect, for good reason. imo, that's why he can't bait guys into the fouls luka gets on those stop and turns, etc.

but yes, he could definitely do more driving to a spot, stopping with a pivot foot, and just wreaking havoc with his strength and passing ability. sort of like anthony mason did sometimes back in the day. again, people go after AD for not posting enough, but lebron is usually bigger and stronger than whoever's defending him, and we don't get enough mileage out of that.

Haynes said Lebron could play if he had to but the reward/risk ratio did not make sense

Playing with his son in 2 seasons >>> making the play-in

There is a large gulf between can play if he had to today, and sitting out 3 weeks.

LeBron should have developed a mid range game by now.
It’s okay, I understand, not everyone has the shooting talent of a Kobe, or Luka. He still heavily relies on his bully-ball drives into the lane because of his strength.
However, some concentrated work on his footwork near the elbows would greatly improve his shooting percentages. His three ball just isn’t working- not enough to be relying on it so much.

    that seems odd for sure

You would think he would be conscious of fighting the narrative that he's all about himself. Showing up for a jersey retirement is a nice gesture. Your freaking team is playing a pretty important game. Why isn't he there anyways? Can he not even walk? Not really buying that right now if we seriously think he may be back after 3 weeks.

Either that, or there is only a chance he can begin rehab after 3 weeks or some crazy stuff. He better be living in the hyperbaric chamber to expedite his healing and eating both broth soup intravenously. You know the lengths Kobe would go to in order to be out there when it mattered.
