His age is really showing this early in the season. Hoping its just the flu/toe and he looks better as the season goes on but its a little disheartening when you see him try and step on the gas but then stalls out

He has never been even a good 1-on-1 player, but when he was younger, he was so much stronger, quicker and more athletic than most of his defenders, it didn't matter. It's not the case anymore, so his lack of any sort of 1-on-1 skills really shows.

I understand he wasn't feeling well and probs for pushing through. That doesn't excuse all the dribbling, bad shots and bogging down the offense. I know Lebron has achieved great things but that isn't going to help us this season. This team is constructed to be at its best when the ball is moving. I'm not buying the roster isn't good enough and he has to do that. Lonnie, Russ, AD, Reaves and this guy named Matt can also score. Lebron is even better and doesn't have to work as hard with the ball moving. He needs to remember that AD is the focus now. Though if we had been working AD as we should have Matt would never have had to make that shot. So it is cool for one game...lol.

I think Troy's going to be included as someone who can score some too as this team hopefully continues to gel. Athletic to finish at the rim and seems to have a decent J and 3 ball.

he used to be able to get to the rim with ease whenever he wanted just because of his strength alone. never had to rely on elite finishing skills like kyrie because he was so strong

that's not the case anymore and you see it when he struggles to finish whenever he's met with opposition on his way to the hoop

Question is.. If you know you're under the weather & no where near 100%.. Why keep running ISO plays..?
We won that game despite LeBron. I was actually begging for Ham to put Westbrook back in.

I mean... you want to ISO? Than go into the post, where you just might have some sort of an advantage (although his post game also blows)... This ball pounding is the ABSOLUTE WORST!

Lebron starts off every season lacking the lift. It's sporadic, he'll make a couple of highlight reel dunks, but then barely get 2 inches off the floor on a lot of his drives. It's been that way every year he's been here. The springs take awhile to get fully activated, but they return eventually. He stunk it up in the 4th and overtime though, Darvin should have pulled him too.

Any updates on him: Lakers reporters really don't seem to be good about updating fans on health status ala the amputation bone bruise of Nunn last year.

Lebron looked like he needed an IV last night and it was only Stu Lance the color commentator who seemed astute enough to point it out

Google the 2018 playoffs mix and get back to me on this take. Agree that he isn’t the best 1 on 1 player but this feels exaggerated to me.

What? How can you say this of the soon-to-be greatest scorer of all time? Weird take, he single handedly beat the Raptors multiple times based in ISOs, most of his game is ISOs and he took a team of scrubs to the finals.

I agree it's not his best skill but your take is way off imo

One of these years the lift won't return and this could be the year.

For those claiming he is even an OK 1-on-1 player, your standard must be pretty low. I don't need to rewatch anything, I've been following his career for 20 years. His only skill in 1-on-1 matchups used to be power combined with quickness. Not footwork or ballhandling, not an array of fakes ... just a quick(er) first step, explosiveness and power.

These won't carry you in year 20... as you don't possess most of them.

For reference of a great 1-on-1 player without the amazing physical attributes, see Doncic, Luka.

The last 3 years of him dribbling the ball for 10 seconds to gather himself are a clear evidence to the above. Had he have any SKILL, it would still be in his arsenal. It's not, hence his inability to do anything 1-on-1 that doesn't involve him getting a running start in transition.

Don't understand how's this is even a debate. This has been pretty well-established.

EDIT: ooh, and for reference of a great 1-on-1 player in year 20, I assume you have an idea...
