    You are wanting two different things though, neither of which are compatible. We can't compete in this two-year Lebron window with Lebron, Jimmy and a bunch of kids under the age of 24. If we sign a guy like Jimmy, we have to unload our kids to actually have a realistic chance to win a ring. At least a guy like Kyrie will still have prime years left when the kids hit their primes. Same with Kawhi. Signing Butler isn't Mozdeng, but it also is likely going to cost us one of our kids since we won't be able to resign all of them with his contract on the books. Do I take Butler at this point? Probably, just because we have a shot for a year or two where an injury to Steph or something like that cracks the door open. But I also know a Butler signing probably means some of our kids are gone to go all-in over the next two years.

    If healthy I think the lakers can win a title with jimmy. Assuming they fill out the roster with a couple more role players. If KD leaves, the warriors are done. They look great a few games without kd but they won't last an entire season. Too many miles and steph is gonna be 31 I believe. Cp3 is long in the tooth. I think Rockets window is closing. 4th-5th year is when young guys really start to come into their own. Next 2-3 years with Jimmy could be a fun contending team. We shall see

    you can win with 2 max n the kids...kawahi was early 20 when he won with the spurs, klay n Draymond were mid 20s along with late 20 curry, their vets from 1st title were Iggy, bogut n Livingston

    I'm getting to the point where I disagree. I think with only having 2ish years left of LeBron at a dominant level we have to go all in. We need a veteran team.

    If you get two other stars, that means you gutted the youth to create the cap space to make it happen.

    Now you have 3 stars and fillers.

    Whoever those three guys are, they better be super durable.

    Lebron: Age and mileage are catching up. No guarantee.

    AD: Legitimate concerns here

    Any of the other options out there beside Klay and KD have a history of "x" number of missed games per year. You have to have some depth to make it through a long year, but the big dogs shine in the playoffs.

    For me, I ask would I rather have this talented young group of go getters that want the moment and fill out the roster with a variety of weapons, or do I trade that for a 3rd star and relative scrubs on the roster after that. I'm leaning toward the developing youth, adding one star, and addl pieces.

    But I need to check with Linda first.

    This is why I'm not super psyched about the "Sign X, then trade all the kids for AD" scenario. In the end, two top tier players/scoring options is all you need to win a ring. If we sign Kawhi, I'd rather we keep the kids and go into next season with everyone KNOWING this is the team we are going to war with. No one needs to be looking over their shoulder at the fact they might be traded. Granted, I think our realistic best-case-scenario lineup is probably AD/Kuz/Lebron/Hart/Kyrie with zero depth.

    This is where I fall. And where the win is the only thing mantra fails. Often it's those 3 dudes on paper is your best mathematical chance and historical chance. But other **** happens which can null and void the championship any of those guaranteed years. Count me in as my Lakers fanship is one more star and then build the team for depth and talent and taking into account where our home grown talents will each be and look like in 3 more years. Like most of us could see was going to happen with Randle. Can we get him back as a top of the heap B choice? That would be really smart IMO. Just watch I'm guessing .... Warriors may go after him. :p

    I actually take this more as LeBron sending the signal to the guys he’s recruiting that things are good here despite what’s being reported. Also that he’s in it to win and come back ready to go next season.
