oh, ok. i just keep seeing it reported as if he had, but if he does, we get handcuffed really quick (like we can't aggregate salaries in trade). just feel like he'd wait until all trade possibilities were explored.

 

Needs to have signed in case of Team USA injury?

 

then he needs to at least sign for the 1.1 or so under the second apron if he doesn't trust us to make good on the offer should he get hurt.

 

I think if he signs first, we are not allowed to do creative trades with multiple people, but if he waits to sign, we have more flexibility to make a trade that we want.

did what he had to so that his whole season wasn't ruined. we're still in a tough spot in that we can't take back more salary in any case, but we can aggregate salaries, send cash, etc., so it could have been much worse.

my only minor gripe about it now is whether him taking a bigger cut to get access to the tpmle could have ended up helping us. we haven't seen who's going for that, but i think gary trent is still a FA (and klutch), for example.

probably not worth it and require other moves anyway.

trade market must suck for us. i thought there was a good chance we get something done prior to his signing, if only to get some clarity. rob's posturing like we'll do nothing.

what's he supposed to say? "we tried like hell to trade 2/3 of the play-in level roster, but everyone wanted all our unprotected picks for lateral moves, so let's have fun or something!"

 

Just leave out the championship caliber part. Stop trying to sell the fan base on things, we’re smarter than that.

 

yeah, he's got a consistently weird way of talking/press releases. i guess it's better to be careful with your phrasing than to just speak wildly off the cuff, but he comes off like an AI poet half the time.
