i think actually both he and luka get hit more than they get calls, but lebron's treatment is getting egregious. i actually think it's hard to argue he even foul-hunts (luka does, though not as much as his rep indicates, imo).

i wonder if that played into his really bad 3 point attempt in crunch time. i felt like it was a terrible shot choice from a high iq player, and he was well short on it. maybe he felt like a drive wasn't going to be possible due to uncalled fouls.

Well, like Shaq, LeBron is bigger and stronger than everyone so the refs have even the table with letting him get fouled and no calls. Unlike Giannis and Embid.

it is horse****, but the attempts in the paint thing is misleading because your attempts don't count if you're fouled (unless you make it). so lebron has more attempts, in part, because they don't call many fouls for him.

i also think you should include the paint, not just the restricted zone. and then luka's number of attempts there would look more similar (after threes, his highest volume of shot attempts are 3-10ft). # of drives would also be a useful stat.

overall, though, i agree with the sentiment. i don't think lebron gets anything close to the whistle harden gets. and embiid is treated like fine china despite being bigger than everyone, so don't tell me it's about that.

Lebron doesn’t finish through contact very well - easily knocked off balance. And after years of flopping and trying to draw cheap fouls, the zebras now swallow their whistle.

This has caused Lebron to pick his spots better than ever, avoid contact, and it shows in his shooting %. It’s inconceivable he can be shooting at an all time high clip for his career, and it was already good.

I feel like he handles contact better now than his younger years, and mostly just focuses on what he can control. I’m glad he has moved away from blaming his teammates for his shortcomings.

These statements seem to contradict each other. I don’t agree with the first statement at all …. as a general statement. He does it all the time.

I’m now reconsidering him as my favorite player….

feels like alot of defensive break down that leads to wide open 3s is due to Bron not really guarding anyone so other guys scramble and he still has the gulls to pt finger at others
