I think Lebron is switching back to #23 out of respect for Kobe.

He knows we’re winning the title this year, and so if he had won it as #6 there would be pressure to eventually retire both his jerseys. He didn’t want to take that away from Kobe, so he decide he’ll just win the 2023-2024 title as #23 to ensure that’s the only jersey we retire

    Yes and no.

#6 is retired league wide. I'm sure he was... encouraged to move on.

And he's not getting both retired here. So he went back to old faithful and the one that is more iconic for him in LA.

Yeah I was joking lol, but I do agree that I think the league wanted this. Last year they said those who were already wearing #6 would be grandfathered in, but they probably wanted to fully retire it. It was probably a complicated situation with Nike where they invested in a bunch of #6 inventory that they didn’t want to so abruptly abandon.

This post was going viral earlier today BEFORE the news officially broke

Very lucky, saved a sinking franchise being run by an incompetent that no other stars wanted to join, couldn’t even get meetings with them, they were laughing at us

I don’t disagree with Worthy. Lebron getting a statue may be a real possibility, and I tend to think it’s going to happen just because of the value the organization places on star power

IMO if we had a disappointing season and Lebron walked next summer, he probably shouldn’t get one.

If he continues playing with us for a few years (ideally for the rest of his career, but taking a team friendly discount in his next contract) and we have moderate success (WCF or Finals runs, no championship), he probably should get one.

If he wins another championship for us, he’s definitely getting one

I think he definitely has to win another to get a statue in LA. You get your jersey retired with LAL with a single title as a major contributor.
He's got a better case for statues in Miami and Cle at this time.

If he does, I hope he gets some smart a** sculptor that effs it up with some artsy fartsy vision like was done to Elgin's. So that LeBron has to be like:

We talked about this on the podcast. If Lebron gets 2 titles in LA, he will get a statue outside the Crypt.

They don’t love you like that. I do, but THEY don’t.

but nobody is in the HOF with 11k points is my guess, so it’s not a reasonable post.

It's a pretty stupid graphic but there are tons of people in the HOF with around or less than 11k points.

Ben Wallace, Toni Kukoc, Dennis Rodman, Arvydas Sabonis, Bill Walton, Dikembe Mutombo to name a few.

leading a team to a title basically guarantees your # will be retired by the lakers. i'm 99% sure lebron's #23 will be retired eventually

    a statue? just no

I'm curious what everyone thinks is the ideal minutes for Lebron during the regular season if our signings pan out. Roles change so much depending on whether Lebron plays or not. How much can we sit him, hold him out of games without throwing other players off their stride when he comes back? Chemistry is real and important. We develop good ball movement, a fun offense that players like and then bam, back to Lebron ball. I know how players always say how much they like playing with Lebron but their body language doesn't always back that up. This isn't a diss on Lebron, when a guy is that good the dynamics are going to change when he is out there. I'm not so much concerned about AD doing the same he seems to blend better. I tried to put that diplomatically so the topic could be discussed and not turn into a diss or defend Lebron topic. Granted diplomacy is not my strong suit...lol.

If I was Ham I think the rotations would work better frankly if Lebron comes off the bench and tries to win 6th man of the year. It would keep his minutes low. Ensure more time with Rui at the 4 or a Hayes/AD frontcourt. There is plenty of creation starting with Reaves/Dlo backcourt and this evens out the strengths of the roster a bit.

So it will never happen but to answer your question 30mpg max (ideal would be 25-30) IMO
