I don't know, I can't see Lebron going to any team just to play with his son. If it was Miami, either of the NY teams, sure, but would he really for example, go to TWolves or OKC? If anything, him and Klutch would probably try to manipulate things to get his son to the Lakers.

I feel like that is what the angle is here, ultimately almost as if it’s written as a scare tactic.

    1. looking like the kid will go undrafted, so no big deal
    2. if that changes, also no big deal. lebron will be 39 and it would spare us awkward contract negotiations.

    no downsides here.

Surprised that’s even a story. LeBron hasn’t hidden his desire to play with his son.

It’s time to move on from LeBron when his contact expires.

right now bronny is looking like a second round pick at best. probably only that high because of his name

wouldn't surprise me at all if klutch finds a way to get him to the lakers. but bron has made it clear he wants to play with bronny and if that means signing a one year deal with a team like the pelicans or thunder, i can see it happening

right; but it basically doesn't affect us much in any case.

if he's undrafted, we probably sign him to appease dad, assuming he wants to finish his career here and not ringchase in a malone-esque fashion.

and if he's great and is drafted in the lotto, lebron walks to join that team and we get 50 million to spend, which at that point will probably have more value.

I think Bronny goes very early in the draft regardless of talent. I don't think it will get to this, because I fully expect Bron to flex the full weight of Klutch and as Lakers GM and get him on this team regardless of what/who it cost. Rob bent to the will of Bron and AD for Russ. What do you think he'll be willing to do if the alternative is Bron leaving?

But let's say Rob grows a backbone for a second and stands his ground... if you're Indy, ORL, OKC, or another small market team with virtually zero nationally televised games and no national media coverage except for the trade deadline then why wouldn't you take Bronny? He alone buys you 4-5 nationally televised games and coverage every single day for at least his rookie season on every ESPN show. He's gets you national reporters to you games and practices. There's momentary value in the exposure he brings.

THEN factor in that it brings Poppa James too... you're the most talked about team in the NBA even if Bron is 40 and the team wins 5 games. Your arena sells out games. Your national TV coverage jumps to the 20s at the very least.

Point is, Bronny is going to be important to the NBA even if he doesn't further develop his game.

yeah, it's possible. didn't mj's kid play in college, though? at some point, teams make choices about what's going to help them win.

Difference in the times. Just a quick comparison of social media, their brand, and how their dads used/didn't use their presence to promote their sons.

Bronny has over 6m followers on IG

yeah, bronny gets hyped up like crazy even though he's nowhere close to being a bigtime NBA prospect

lebron still being an active player probably has a lot to do with it too, as well as social media being a thing

Who thinks we will be giving LeBron an extension?
I don’t. His body is breaking down and he will miss more games with each new season.

I think he, as acting big decision GM, will give himself one or tell Rob, his assistant GM, to give him one. Or tell Rambis, assistant to the regional manager, to tell Rob to give him one.

sooo...nobody's going to talk about why his knee started randomly swelling? that's kind of the issue.
