It's been 14 years since this gem.

The last part of the video hits hard now.

I remember this game like it was yesterday. On my birthday, but before I went out to the college bars I had to watch it. If I remember correctly Bynum got hurt a day or two before? Before my roommate left I called him upstairs after seeing the first couple minutes of this game because I knew this was going to be an EPIC performance.

He clearly had no bounce at that time. Very declining athleticism, but still got it done.

    so skilled

The only other celebrity death that came close was John Lennon, I was younger then and was a huge Beatles fan.

I just saw the Bill Russell documentary on Netflix, it's really good. I hope Netflix does one on Kobe.

For sure. Not only for him but it meant there would never, ever be another performance from them together in any imaginable form.

Pau is obviously not the best player we've ever traded for, especially considering our long history getting stars, but he might be the trade I've been most excited for.

We knew Kobe was the best in the league and many of us knew he was the best by a wide margin at the time, but our team had been sucking for years. During that early 2007-2008 season we were actually good, but getting Pau meant finally going back to being serious contenders. And the guy was really fun to watch as one of the PFs with best basketball IQ. I loved that team.

All of that said, what Pau has done for Kobe after his passing... man, that's a real friend. He' proven that when he talked about Kobe being a brother, he meant it. Most people don't. Mad respect for him
