He thinks he's top 50 of all time though, so there's that.

Okay, y'all... This fr might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm not feeling the level of hype they're giving Steph.

Now, lemme first and foremost headline this by saying this is the FIRST year I genuinely loved Curry. But I'm seeing all these posts comparing him to Kobe and a few people in comments saying Curry would rank above Kobe all-time.

Am I insane for being pissed? Ain't NO WAY. The argument was something about how Steph is only 1 ring away from Kobe and some other crap.

Now on one hand, let's be honest--you know they're doing this for clicks and engagement on their posts. BUT, the problem I have with this is that these hot takes take hold and then you get more people on board with it just because they see the association.

Ppl seem to have forgotten Kobe, it makes me so mad. We all forget what we don't see all the time, it's true --but c'mon. These hot takes are getting to be too much. Curry is great at what he does, but it is NOT close, Kobe is light years ahead and WAY more complete as a player. I don't get it.

the only people who are placing Curry about Kobe or other greats are people that didn't watch them play

Curry should get credit for completely changing the game with his shooting and ball handling skills, but no player in the NBA would put Curry in front of Kobe. I doubt even Curry would tbh.

Probably a good habit to not let silliness on the internet bother you. Before you know it, you'll be a round earther and saying all kinds of crazy stuff about the New World Order.

Nah man, again, it's to be expected that internet is gonna clickbait. What bothers me is that the hot takes catch on, no matter how ridiculous they are, and people start to put their eggs in that basket bc no one likes to think anymore...irrespective of what professionals say. In ANY profession, really.

I'm seriously gonna be pissed if this becomes the trending thought.

i'm a huge, huge kobe fan. but i get folks putting curry up there. he's won me over as the years go by. he's a real competitor in the mamba mold and has been a unique force of nature. i prefer curry to, say, nash, who has some accolades but wasn't as good, imo.

if you forced me, i pick kobe because he was an all-nba (really, dpoy-level) player during much of his prime. but on offense, curry is equal or better in terms of his impact on how people have to play you. and he's been the engine on some great teams.

Was either this ( steph creeping up on Kobe ) or Boston hanging banner 18. Pick your poison.

Steph creeping up on Kobe is a matter of opinion and narrative. Cbag's 18th is a matter of fact.

curry's a small guard who's 34 years old. he's on borrowed time, right now, by historical standards. and he takes great care of himself, but he already had a long history of breaking down as the season goes on, and the long version of that is likely to happen here soon.

so, i think it's unlikely he does much in terms of individual records, and the title is also a question mark, despite gs's status, imo.

Kobe mastered EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of the game. The guy had ZERO weaknesses.
Curry has improved over the years on defense, but he still gets abused. Young Kobe was one of the best defenders in the game for years.
Curry is a great passer, but Kobe was Magic-esque during his prime.
Kobe had other-wordly athleticism and could take it to the rack against ANYONE, even multiple defenders at a time. Curry has no above the rim game to speak of.
Kobe’s ability to play throughout entire SEASONS with multiple injuries will never be duplicated. Curry is tough, but once again, no comparison.
Curry gets the nod in shooting.
    Kobe was a superior rebounder.
Handle is a wash, maybe slight edge to Curry.
Steph is an All Time Great, but let’s not get this twisted.
Jordan and Kobe are in a class of their own, higher than “All Time Great.”

    slight edge on handle?

The man has a slight edge on just about everyone whoever played.

It's ok to give props where it's due. Great handle. Great shooter. Great floor general. Great rebounder for his height. Range to half court. Has contributed greatly to the game forever changing.

But Kobe is still better. 60 in his final game is still awe inspiring.
