I hear you, but if I need one game or one season, I probably still take him over those two just for the simple fact that Shaq would translate to any era absolutely and unequivocally. You can't make the argument "well if Kobe played in the 80s he'd get knocked around more" or "well if Jordan played today, there's more athletes his size so he'd have more trouble scoring" or any other such thing. Nobody was 7'2" and 300 pounds and as athletic as a 28-29 year old Shaq. As an example: can you imagine these Warriors playing against Kobe or Jordan? Those two would have their work cut out for them with all these wing defenders. Who on the Warriors stops Shaq? Shaq would put Bogut's head through the hoop just about every time down. Now obviously they'd swarm him, but teams did that for more than a decade and a half and Shaq still would get to the rim and jam on you. I mean in the end Kobe and Jordan aren't getting stopped and I don't think you can go wrong with those three choices (or Kareem or Magic) but if I have to take just one guy for one game or one season, I take that Shaq. He was something else. He was so good that year even Kobe was willing to take a backseat for a little while. That's saying a lot.
Every player had flaws. Shaq couldn't shoot free throws, but he'd give you a monster line and, odds are, a sizable lead that was big enough to support his inadequacies. Kobe would overshoot, same with Jordan. Just in terms of "we can't stop that", Shaq was the man. In the end, isn't that the thing you want?
Kobe was the man as well. You couldn't stop him. He was so well rounded, so skilled, had such a killer instinct. I'm taking him any day of the week. No disrespect to Shaq, but Kobe's ability to take over games. We were never out of a game because of his ability to explode at any given time and defensively could play lock down defense.
OH!! Sooo f****** good!! Thanks for all of those. And at the end of the last clip .... how excited was Kobe, being interviewed after Pau's 1st game as a Laker, and after being sooo pissed over the summer and wanting to play on Pluto rather than the Lakers again. I loved Kobe and Pau. Great clips you picked.
Been wanting to do this for awhile just haven't had time, but here's my farewell to Kobe Bean Bryant.
Unfortunately it's not available there or on Youtube. Yanked by whoever made it? I thought that was the idea if you made a clip, to get it viewed..... especially on Youtube? Thought only the NBA did that stupid petty crap.
Doing a package of highlights from Kobe's prime. 2006-2010. Here you go. It's nearly 2.5 hours long. Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5. Part 6.
