As wind down the last twenty games or so of Kobe's career I can't help, but take a trip down memory lane at some of his best moments. This was Game 2 in the 2009 Playoffs against the Rockets. Him and Artest got into it in this game like they did earlier in the season. Barrier was matched up most of the time. Literally had a hand right in his face every single time just about it and it simply didn't matter.
If Metta got up on Lebron like that, I think Lebron cries before Metta has to be escorted out of the building.
Ugh.. that game seems like yesterday to me... I don't think I'll ever enjoy basketball again as much as I did watching Kobe. I was a huge Jordan fan.. but there's just something about Kobe that will always be more exciting when I look back. I've never seen anyone get double and triple teamed as hard as he was.. most of the time fouled without a call, and still nail a spectacular shot. Completely shunned by the refs and players were allowed to handcheck him on defense.. long after handchecking was no longer allowed.. crazy. GOAT
Kobe totally took a shot at Artest there. First of all, obviously I know those two were battling and I'm sure Artest got his own shots in. Second of all, who else in the league would even have the balls to hit Artest like that? How many other players have we seen wilt under Artest's crazy eyes? Kobe never backed down from any defender from Bowen, to Bell, to Battier, to Artest. He battled with all of them. You might never see another guy like that again.
I love that you can see the sweet coming from Kobe face in front of him. Almost looks like its venom and coming from his mouth
That one play helped me see what Kobe could have done defensively against Steph in Kobe's prime. Steph would have still scored on him, but you know he'd be working his tail off to do it.
Honestly, looking at the schedule, there are 6 away games, plus the season finale at home that he will likely play in. I could see him suiting up for Cleveland (LBJ), Miami (Wade) and of course Boston at home. So it is conceivable (barring injury) he's got 10 games left.
We're in jeopardy of moving out of the bottom 3. Gonna need Kobe to play and take a lot of shots. I keed. I keed. (Not really)
So we sure the shoulder is just sore? This starts to look like a bit more to it ... hopefully he suits up for the last game as it would be my first and last time seeing him out there.
Who knows? Fake injury? Old age? Surgery needed? I'd take whatever the organization said about it at this point with a swimming pool full of salt.
I agree. I think this is the Lakers way of making sure he is in uniform on April 13th. I think if they could, they would sit him for the rest of the season until that game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kobe hoist 50-60 shots that game.
Great game from Kobe tonight. Got closer to the basket. Had that patented fadeaway going tonight against LeBron. Did a good job of using some screens to get some seperation on his jump shot. Made a couple of nice plays. End of the day the man has fifteen games left or so. It's been a pleasure watching him play. He is a living legend. I love that guy. He will always be my favorite player. He's the greatest player of this generation. To me the best player to ever wear purple and gold. I thought it was laughable that Brent Barry said he wasn't the face of the NBA when he clearly was for about a decade. You telling me a dude who went for 80 plus wasn't the face of the league? A guy who dominated and single handily destroyed opposing teams game plans. He out scored a great Dallas team by himself through three quarters the same season as the 81 point game. He had that ridiculous run of 40 point games in 2003. Dropped 55 on Jordan in his last go around. A 5 time champion. He should've won at least three or four MVP's. Best player since MJ. Best closer maybe ever. You don't get celebrated like this if you aren't a bad, bad man and he deserves every bit of it.
