11 minutes... Seeing 24 limp along to the finish line trying to preserve himself for the last lap just makes me sad a bit. Wish a better script was written for his last season.
Was watching Sportscaster and they were comparing Steph Curry's recent 5 game scoring spree to Jordan's best 5 games. They both averaged in the 40s but of course no mention of Kobe's best 5 which would have included the four in a row over 50 a game.
Here's a good list of best stretches in Kobe's career, including: A 17-game stretch in which he averaged 40.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks on 47-35-89% shooting. A full postseason (16 games) in which he averaged 29-7-6 on 47% shooting. A 16-game stretch in which he averaged 40.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks on 48-43-85% shooting. His best six-game streak MIGHT be this one (2003): 45.8 points, 4.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 52% FGs, 50% threes, 85% FTs In 2006, he had a five-game streak: 53.6 points, 2.2 assists, 6.8 rebounds, 53% FGs, 48% threes, 92% FTs, and the Lakers won all the game. His 81-point game is sandwiched in way that you can end up with: 48.8 points, 3.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds on 50% Fgs, 38% threes, 97% FTs or... 47.6 points, 3.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds on 46% FGs, 39% threes, 92% FTs Steph's: 41.6 ppg / 6.6 apg / 5.4 rpg / 55% 3P / 3.6 TOPG. It MIGHT be better than Kobe's 16-game stretch, but it's not better than those other lines. The 2006 stretch is just stupid. Imagine scoring another 12 points per game than Curry, and doing it on almost the same 3pt shooting %. Curry would basically have to take ten more threes and hit four of them EACH GAME to match Kobe.
Some of those stretches are detailed here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1576644-ranking-most-impressive-stretches-of-kobe-bryants-career Some I searched around on bkref.
LT saw it on Sports Center. I read an article on the same topic this morning. The article was claiming you had to go back to Jordan to find a stretch of five games as good as Steph's. Now I cant find the article. I think they may have taken it down already. Garbage.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14914526/los-angeles-lakers-wear-kobe-bryant-themed-socks Lakers to wear Kobe themed socks to honor him. Pretty cool considering he isn't even retired yet.
Video in this link contains profanity, hadn't seen it until just now, and I love it. Beat the s*** outta them. http://m.bleacherreport.com/article..._campaign=programming-national?is_shared=true
Don't just beat 'em. I think Russell Westbrook might be the only cat in the NBA with that mentality right now. Maybe Curry and maybe Lillard, but Westbrook might be the only guy who embodies it.
Yeah plus Kobe is one of the few guys who isn't all buddy buddy with everyone. He wants to rio your f***ing head off and not give you a chance. That's why he's always been my favorite player and always will be.
