Let's not forget guys that Kobe was guarding Chris Paul throughout the night. That is probably why he was tired at the end. Chris Paul had a relatively quiet game so I'm giving a pass to Kobe on that poor 4th quarter shooting performance.
to quote a couple of reddit users: Pretty sure Kobe is Cell and he absorbed Randle for his youth He injects Steve Nash's spinal fluid into his knees.
Everything he shot was short. Tired legs... I don't know what he did at half time, but the 3rd quarter was amazing.
yeah, it was weird to see him look a bit more spry after halftime. he 4th was fatigue, clearly. but the first half was sort of scary bad. like "henry abbott erection" bad.
"Lakers fans have enjoyed 16 titles and aren't accustomed to losing. Bryant offered a message to the frustrated fans. "You have to understand there is nothing you can do with what's transpired," Bryant said. "You have to move on to tomorrow. Right? You have to. Kicking and screaming is not going to do anything. "Lakers fans know it's a process. Things can turn pretty quickly. We've seen it there before. If there is anything we're relying on, we're relying on our history, what we've been able to accomplish and how quickly we are able to turn things around."" http://sports.yahoo.com/news/kobe-bryant--i-don-t-even-think-about-leaving-the-lakers-022609397.html (I went ahead and posted this article here too since more people are following this thread. )
Well, I'll say that ends the Kobe trade talk if it ever even really existed. Strong words by Kobe there, and I knew that's how he'd feel. Great read.
I'm going to go ahead and give this it's own thread just so we can get it on the front page and whatnot. Thanks for bringing it to the site!
I wasn't able to watch this game tonight. Am I reading this box score correctly, 39 points for Kobe on 37 shots? That's insane, way too much at his age. I'm going to assume we needed it to stay in the game because we suck, but damn, if he keeps that up he will break down at some point.
Yes...but that's on Byron for apart of that. He played Kobe the entire 1st and 3rd quarters. Kobe was exhausted. He was missing layups, had no lift in his jump-shots; most of them ended up short. Completely irresponsible. I don't care if we had 4 days off for him to rest; you don't play a man coming off an Achilles and knee injury 44 damn minutes. That just pisses me off...and, yes, Byron probably asked Kobe how he felt, and of course, Kobe probably said, 'fine,' and Byron left him in.
I would agree on Byron. If you set a goal for a guy to play 35 minutes max or so per game, and then let him go for 44, you're not sticking to the plan. I get we suck without Kobe, but we aren't winning with him either, so why wear him out this soon.
Serena Winters @SerenaWinters · 10m 10 minutes ago Kobe said he's "sore" but he feels alright. Serena Winters @SerenaWinters · 2m 2 minutes ago Kobe used the word "relentless" several times tonight post-game. Isn't that Clippers motto? Serena Winters @SerenaWinters · 2m 2 minutes ago Kobe said team needs to be "stubborn as a mule," as quick as they lost 5 in a row they can win 5 in a row.
Serena Winters @SerenaWinters · 7m 7 minutes ago What words of encouragement can Kobe give his team: "just get a damn win."
4 days till we play our next game. I'm a little shocked why everyone is so up in arms about his min tonight
4 days till next game. Byron said in post game this isn't a normal thing and will tamper off his mins next game
