i don't understand any of this. AD wanted a starting center NEXT to him. kessler doesn't want to play pf. nor does anyone want him to do that. kessler's basically as big or bigger than any center in the league. you don't need two of them. we have one. we're good.

so many teams play without a backup center who's a bruiser or shotblocker, with much success.

we seem to be signaling that we're going with mamu as the backup center, which is the role he's played elsewhere. also, our coach is half-a-dantoni, so shoving a poor man's steven adams down his throat as a backup is probably not a great idea.

also, we didn't sign maxi kleber. and also, he was a good backup utility big and veteran locker room presence, just like looney will be.

this is an end of the bench signing.

That might be the straw, that broke the camels back. If anyone thinks we got better than we were last year, all i can say is, LOL.
As for Looney, he's a scrub (even if for a vet min.). Worst kind of a C you could ask for.

Yeah if Kevon Looney on a minimum is the the straw that broke the camel’s back, maybe taking a season off is good for mental health.

    Good signing.

Solid vet who will not complain about usage and role. Good experience to have in the locker room.

I'm also worried if Kessler gets injured as I don't see Looney playing big minutes. Maybe we can get some 2-way center that can get some burn in those games.

Regarding the Looney is washed thing: How exactly has that been determined?

Looney still does two things at an elite level, and two other things at a high level. Then there are other things that he never could do, and still can't do.

    Elite: Rebounds and sets screens
Last year he still put up 13.8 rebounds per 36. I know he will not ever play 36, but it does show that the man can still clean glass.
He has always set some of the smartest and hardest screens in the game. Luka, AR, Grimes and Sexton will all love his screens

High: High IQ team D and locker room influence

Not his thing: Dunks, shot blocking, scoring

We could have done worse. Yes, really.

his advanced metrics dropped off a cliff last year, but i just don't put much stock in stuff happening in NO. i'm good with the signing. if anything, this is an adult in the room, and i probably prefer him to say, kevin love (whom people seemed fine with).
