I do agree with one statement: love needs to leave the super team to prove himself and KG did prove himself pre c bags.

Based upon what points? I like kg and he definitely had heart. But that's a pretty elite group and I don't give it to him just cause he won one with c bags and lost another

Really, based on everything. He's at least a top 5 PF. Coming up with 50 players that are better than KG seems impossible, but you're welcome to prove me wrong.

    KG has an MVP.
He's one of the best defensive players of all-time and has one DPOTY award. Although that 1 award doesn't do him enough justice, he has 9 all-defensive 1st team selections.
    He's a 15-time all star, which puts him 3rd all-time. He's tied with Shaq and behind Kobe/Kareem.
He had 6 straight seasons with at least 20 ppg, 10 rpg, and 5 apg. Yes, 6 straight seasons with 5 apg as a big man.
Up until the 08-09 season with the C Bags, KG rarely ever missed a game. They went 26-2 at one point with KG in the lineup. Losing him killed any chance of them winning a ring.
In 02-03, he even lead his team in all major categories (points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks).

The list goes on and on. I don't see how there are 50 players who have done at least that or equivalent to that.

I don't really like comparing KG and Love.. Despite them both being PF's that put up huge numbers & never won anything as a T-Pup, they're completely different players.. KG was right there with Kobe as the fiercest competitors in the league & was a top 3-5 player on both sides of the ball. His game was well suited to join up with other stars & win because he can be your leader on defense & in the locker room.. Sacrificing FG attempts wasn't a big deal for KG because he could do so many other things to help a team win.

Love is a volume scorer that can stretch the floor, grab a ton of rebounds, & make some amazing outlet passes, but that's really where it ends. You take his shot attempts away & have him start focusing on playing defense instead of leaving his man to pad his rebounds & he's not that special of a player. Love would do well going to a team like Memphis that doesn't have any true #1 option type players but they're great at pretty much everything else. Next to offensive talent like Lebron, Kyrie, Waiters, Love's skill set isn't ever going to be fully utilized.

I think Love & Kobe could work.. They could both get their shot attempts but it'd have to be a Kobe & Shaq type situation where the rest of the team is high quality role players that don't demand touches. Swaggy would still need his shots too but I definitely think we could make it work. The key would be adding good defensive role players to the couple good defensive role players we already have (Lin & Ed Davis).

Edit. Should I change T-Pups to T-Wolves because it might be offensive to puppies? ;)

Well, Love is not on Gasol's level yet IMHO. As an all-around player. If he does come to LA, he can be the 2nd scoring option, grab some rbs, but that doesn't make LAL a contender. We need more then that....

Agree on both of last two posts. Always wondered if they kept a stat for 'cheapie' rebounds what would it tell us. You know rebounds after missed FT. How many players would not average double doubles.

Love, plus two great starters with solid depth would give us a shot and once again, it would be progress towards getting to where we want to be. After Kobe becomes a free agent, well have more money to re-sign him to a team friendly contract and use the rest of the money if we play our cards right, for a max player as well. I know we have a lot of cap space this off-season but it doesnt necessarily mean well spend it all out of desperation.

Cleveland is deep in the waters and looking shaky to get out.

Don't think that CLE organization would abandon their fans again (err, break their hearts) by letting Love go unless Lebron said it was ok. Don't bet on that happening unless there is a major 'blow up' by the all-star break. Then it gives owner an ability to 'save face' by saying that the 'experiment' did not work and its time to go in a different direction. Again, don't bet on that happening. Remember, the Miami heat sucked for the first 17 games of their "Big 3" coming together....Let's check in on this about January.

I think Eastern Conference is unbelievably weak. Its truly up for grabs this year. (Mark Cuban may have a point even if he is trying to give Dallas an advantage). So, yes, I suppose CLE might have a chance to eek out an ECF appearance.

KG basically averaged 20/10 over the course of 18 years. Love has a long way to go to do that. And KG was no slouch with 4 assists per game. He did it as the best offensive and defensive player on his team for most of his career, as a career DRtg below 100 attests.

    FIFTEEN ASGs
    All-D 1st team 9x
    All-D 2nd team 3x
    All-NBA 1st team 4x
    All-NBA 2nd team 3x
    All-NBA 3rd team 2x
    DPOY
    Obvious first ballot HoF player.

    Love
    Likely his third ASG
    All-NBA 2nd team 2x

    LONG way to go.

Uhh, I wasn't chirping for Love to be good with this team Trod. I do think that chemistry takes time though and CLE will be fine. Appreciate your statistics though and see how you are reviving the discussion of KG v. KLOVE.

My thought, Klove is still young and is not in a system that is good for him - maybe not yet, maybe never.

KG Stats for Minnesota Years 1-3

    Age: 20.
    PPG: 10.4
    Reb: 6.3
    Blk: 1.6

    Age: 21.
    PPG: 17
    Reb: 8
    Blk: 2

    Age: 22.
    PPG: 18.5
    Reb: 9.6
    Blk: 1.8

KG has him beat on scowls and height so far. They have different games. KG (despite the comparisons) was not Bill Russell though solid on D, I will give you that.

KLOVE is an enigma because they have him listed at 6-10 but I think he is truthfully 6-8 with long arms (more a McHale Build).

Actually, I just hadn't read this thread in a long time - and didn't realize it was an old discussion :)
