He was really grabbing at it a lot, I hope it was just the calf and he was feeling to be sure. He was able to walk off pretty well, though assisted, so yeah, hope for the best. Probably shouldn’t have been playing though.

He was grabbing pretty low. Hope it's just the calf.

There were pics floating around where people suspected it was the Achilles.

I just can’t imagine they’d let him play at all on an injured Achilles though.

I'm not hoping for Durant to come here but damn I don't want to see him go the way of Kobe, he has more years of prime unlike the Mamba

That indeed doesn’t look good at all. I really hope he wasn’t pressured into playing ahead of being ready, we’ve seen what can happen when you do that with Isaiah Thomas, and we’ve seen what can happen if you stick up for yourself and do what’s best for your career with Kawhi.

That’s why you look out for yourself when you have an injury and not the team. I’m not sure if he came back because of them complaining or just to be competitive, but the only one paying the price in this situation is KD.

    maannnn....that looks like an achilles...

sucks. i know folks don't like him these days, but he's an outstanding player who's been unfairly vilified, imo.

edit: i'm not a doctor...just know that when it fully ruptures, folks say it snakes up the leg. gives me the willies just thinking about it.

The fact that he came up lame and grabbed for the lower calf (toward his heel) without direct trauma to the area shows its an Achilles. That calf muscle collapsing into itself in that vid crudely confirms it's an Achilles. I'd personally be surprised if it wasn't.

He has sacrificed max money for years for the dubs and now this. It could cost him... He does have a player option (~30m) to help salvage a lost/recovery-based season to usher in the new SF stadium tho.

    Yikes.

How terrible would it be if he tore his achilles, and then GS didn't resign him? Do you pay a man big money knowing he can't help you for that season? Maybe cant help them ever again.

If it’s an achilles, I exercise that player option if I’m him. Do my healing on the Warriors dime for a year, then hit free agency next summer. Should have never been out there if there was chance of further injury, not when you’re either the best or at worst 2nd best player in the NBA.

OMG that gif definitely looks like it was the achilles. The pop twangs all the way up to his upper calf. Now we have to wonder if because the calf was compromised it caused that or if maybe it was the achilles he tweaked a bit or even partially tore to begin with? There was some speculation to that originally because of him grabbing it like that.

Yikes is right. Huge risk he took for the team. Good thing he's not on the C Bags. Guess we'll find out how GS deals with it. You know they would have tried to keep him with the new arena opening next year. Agreed with the player option he ought to exercise it now.
