Randle will not start over Bass or Black if he doesn't calm down. He's OK. I mean, he was better last season. His injury isn't slowing him down. He's actually more explosive and athletic. I'm not worried though. I do think we all got a bit excited and need to table the playoffs talk. We aren't going to win 35 games. Upshaw, Russell and Randle are all too raw. Much more than we initially thought.

He looks terrible and I don't think its due to rust. He has the physical tools but he doesnt have a feel for the game. He predetermines his moves, he tries to shoot in congestion over taller guys. He doesn't understand deception, angles, how to play off ball, how to get a clean look off, etc. His outside shot may have improved in practice but I haven't seen it translate in game.

The problem right now is that he loves to drive to the basket, regardless of how big the defenders are and how crowded it is, and when players have size on him he will struggle.

Randle is looking like Kwame with better handles so far. It's not exactly encouraging.

We should not start him. Have bass start as PF. Assuming Russell, Clarkson and Kobe Start at 1,2,3, we need someone who wont need the ball to be effective. Randle trying to dribble and driving into lane won't fit with starters.

Randle and russell are gonna need a year or two before they are effective starters IMO

Damn ya'll are going in on someone who just started playing 5 on 5 a few weeks ago, hasn't played in a live game in almost a year (Sans 1st game) and is playing in a crappy offense that generates zero good looks for players.

He looked great in the last preseason game. Hasn't even tried to look for his outside shot. Let him get back into form before we trade him to DET for a 2nd round pick.

    Everyone looked like crap tonight.

Randle is very raw. It's more than skill, but also basketball concept like position, ball movement, rebounding etc

Honestly, I think he'll be fine. I understand not having his touch, his timing, and learning to acclimated again. I completely understand that. However, there is no excuse to not play defense, go after rebounds, dive on the floor, and contribute in other ways. If his offense isn't going, start finding other ways to contribute, Julius.

Randle's issues have nothing to do with when he started playing 5 on 5. Turning your back on the ball on defense has nothing to do with that. Jumping in the air every time you drive to pass isn't a reps issue. Not moving without the all on offense isn't a problem of lack of practice either. This is his inexperience and lack of "feel" coming through IMHO.

He's always been the most physically gifted player on the floor and fundamental parts of playing the "game" are not there because his advantage physically has provided success. At this level it's not going to and typically doesn't.

He has some big holes fundamentally in his game. They were there last summer league and Pre-season too. I don't have the expectations most do here for him and what I'm seeing is about what I expected actually. I did want to see some discipline with the ball that isn't there and recognition of situations over just putting his head down and pushing. He's a very raw talent and will need to be brought along slowly. I think he'll be OK but I've never expected a perennial All Star from him.

What's been disappointing is Russell's play. He's a freaking TO machine.

Exactly. Just a reminder of how the great Kobe Bryant played on December 9, 2013. 1st game back recovering from a Achilles injury.

2-for-9 with four assists and eight turnovers in 28 minutes. "My rhythm and feel is completely out of sync," Bryant said

So yeah, Randle gets a pass.

I think we need to expect a lot of games with Russell having high TO in the 1st half of the season. Teams need to gel and having so many young players on your team will make the process very slow.
