He could still compete for the award, but it'll certainly be harder for him.

But Kobe Bryant didn't win rookie of the year and he turned out alright.

:D I think only Eddie Jones started as a lottery pick for us since Magic... Byron was drafted by the Clips. The Lakers know what they're doing with future stars. I have no doubt Julius will be an All Star if he stays as a Laker. If he sucks, we'll vote him in, right AC?

Based on everything I have seen so far of him, his shot is pretty terrible. Both in form and release. It just doesn't look right. He seems like he has too much raw power and not enough finesse. Don't get me wrong, he's athletic and coordinated as hell but he lacks touch. Even his post moves are powerful moves that he almost seems to will into the basket instead of shooting it into the basket with touch. This is something to look out for. He has to improve his shot or his ceiling will be limited. But right now, it's cringeworthy.

He has good form on his shot actually. Very good. It's just flat, but that's completely fixable with practice.

There's nothing really terribly wrong with that form/release at all. It's inconsistent, sure, but it's there. I don't see any reason to think his shot is all that bad. I've seen much, much worse from NBA players. Heck go look at the jump shot from his draft-mate Aaron Gordon.

Much more worrying is that when he decides to go to the rim he has trouble controlling himself. He turns into a bull in a china cabinet and usually misses the shot or turns the ball over.

i don't love his form. there's a bit of a hitch at the top, and he shoots a push shot more than a true jumper. unless he hits a high percentage of them right out of the gate, i'd probably have a shooting coach start over with him. he has the eye-hand coordination to be a much better shooter, imo.

this, it seems like he forces it in the basket, but as of right now its going in. it definitely shouldn't be a go to thing. He crashes it in, but how consistent is that going to be.

He needs better foot work and needs to fake more, be a smarter player.

Oh no doubt it's not perfect, but we knew that. I don't see it as all that bad though. I've seen worse shots turn out just fine.

Things I notice with his shot mechanics:

    1. He's bow legged. Nothing wrong with that, but you don't get the same lift as you would with a normal, squared up, triple threat set. Dirk is an example of being bow legged, but he has a better shot form and is a 7 footer, so lift isn't as necessary for him.

    2. He's has a side flinging type shot that does not get a lot of arc, hence the flat shot He can adjust the angle in which he shoots it for more arc, as seen in Real's highlight video.

Everyone has their own shot, Boozer's is just as strange. He just needs to put a little arc on that shot and it'll be fine.

He's probably doing more running than he ever has in his life. I don't mind if he takes a few days off, picks it up a notch when he comes back.

We were already blown out and I'm guessing Byron wanted to let Tyler make a case for himself on the team. Not worried about blisters. Trudell said during the game that he was available to return. Not coming back = coaching decision.

Blisters probably means someone needs to get him the right size shoes.

Agreed. Footwear shouldn't be a problem at the professional level, so let's get on this ASAP.

I'm glad he maned up a little today after practice after Byron gave him some settle shots after the game on Thursday for not playing as hard as he should be the last few games.

Randle basically said that he doesn't blame Byron for not playing him and that he needs to earn his minutes.

Granted, but once you have them they're a beech especially with Scott on your a$$ wanting more and more with the running and hustle. Ask Kelly about his hamstring pull from the psycho running first day of practice. Still ticked about that.
