Point taken. But. IF Julius gets to the point where he can knock down the mid range, even have decent enough % on 3pt to keep defenders honest...... (And ??) ..... has "alpha dog" plus some helping of "clutch" in him, that ceiling and his impact and value go HIGHER. Of course Big "IF" but his interviews and demeanor clearly suggest some level of alpha dog and he's working hard on that J.

@KB24, I don't think we've seen enough of him playing in the NBA to come to that conclusion. After all, I don't think any of us expected Clarkson to be as good as he was by the end of the season and a large part of that was him studying the game and listening to Nash and Kobe. Randal talks the same talk as Clarkson so I hope he works on his game in the same way.

I don't know what Randle's ceiling is to be honest. That's both scary good and scary bad. I'd love to give a statistical projection, but I'm no longer sure what that would be. It really depends on who we pick up in the draft and in FA. If Randle plays SF instead of PF, he'll have different responsibilities, and so on and so forth.

What I will say is that Randle is an ELITE prospect in that even in small samples he shows growth. Even from Summer League to pre-season he was more confident in his mid-range jump shot. As he got into better shape he was better on the fast break and as a post player.

If he gives us 16/9 with decent defense, that's a solid starter. I'm fine with that production.

The same things could have been said about Ginger Biff coming into the league. The issue is whether he has the capability to develop as a player and the drive to keep progressing. I say yes to both. The only thing that can stop him is the injury factor.

I think that clarifies my stance on Love.

did I miss love backtracking on his comments about expecting to be in Cleveland? if not, it's a non-issue. all I wanted from howard was a vague statement like love's, and when he didn't give it, I knew he was gone. love stated quite clearly that he plans on playing for Cleveland, and despite them winning with Thompson and not love, it doesn't make sense to just let him walk for nothing after you gave up the #1 pick in the last two drafts for him.

I am so excited to see Randle healthy and playing finally and hopefully getting in one of those upward progression, long term "spikes" we have seen with at least 2 of our last decade picks. Bynum and Clarkson. My wet dream is Julius winds up being good enough to have the swag to be the alpha dog he seems to be. Dakari Johnson kept saying Julius was "fearless". If he can be elite with how he hones his skills and weaknesses alike, I just have this funny feeling he could be one of the guys Kobe would be comfortable trying to prepare to hand him the torch, or one of the torches. I feel our club going forward from here is going to have multiple alpha dogs. And that.... does....not.....suck.

Geez Randle is an athletic kid.

Glad they have a history with each other. Okafor and Randle are going to have some awesome practice sessions.

Yeah, I can't wait. I think Randle is going to be a star; have that feeling about him.

Yeah, I'm still not convinced that playing him as a SF is a 'bad idea' He should be just as effective at both positions (3 and 4) if he develops his jumpshot.

I think it only works with a PF like Love. Otherwise he doesn't just need to develop his jumper, he needs to develop it out to 3 point range.
