I don't think so. Deron us a straight up natural with the ball. He's still got to notch handles when he's actually healthy and actually trying. It's just rare those two things ever happen these days.

I know we're giving Randle the benefit of the doubt, but Clarkson may very likely turn out to be the better rookie. In fact, until proven otherwise, he currently sits above Randle in our depth chart next year.

He needs to work on that 3-pt shot.

Agreed. I think the goal should be at least 36%-38% for him. Not only would improving percentages help the team because of his ability to space the floor, it will also open up more driving lanes for him to get to the basket.

Byron said 3 point shots don't matter. I think his percentage is a bit too high for what the outlook is for the team.

3-point shots and P&R don't matter. They are easily defended.

JC has started 29 games, Lin has started 26? Give JC some love.

And what the hell is a "leadership" stat

That's where a guy like CP3 stands out from the pack. You think it's easy to lead a talented team to the 2nd round of the playoffs?

No. It is unfathomably difficult to take that talent to the precipice...and jerk it back before the pinnacle. The climax if you will. To do that takes great control and discipline. I have tried to take it to the edge. I almost always succum to the pressure.

The ROTY award should factor improvement throughout the year, and this kid should win it IMO. He is arguably our best player since the allstar break.

Wiggins has been better for a long time, but Jordan is making a great case for the All - Rookie Team.

He ain't RoY. Wiggins and Noel are better now and have been better most of the season. But he better be on at least the second-team all rookie. He should be first team. All rookie team should be

    Mirotic
    Noel
    Wiggins
    Clarkson
    Payton

Maybe you bump Clarkson out for Smart, but that's it.

Honestly I don't. I think Clarkson has outplayed Smart since he's been given the opportunity. If Clarkson doesn't make 1st Team it's just because Smart has played more. For comparison's sake here's Basketball Reference's stats side-by-side

Smart pros: almost 400 more minutes, better TO/AST ratio, better 3PT%, more total assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks.
Jordan pros: more points scored, better FG%, more FTs attempted, better FT%, higher usage rate.

It's clear to me at least that when given the opportunity, Jordan has been a better overall player. Smart is the better defender, but that's just about it. A lot has been asked of Smart as a rookie and a less has been provided. Jordan has started the same number of games as him, but played 8 fewer overall.

For me you nailed the 1st Rookie Team. I think that's what it should be. I wouldn't surprised if they give it to Smart though and I wouldn't be surprised if that motivated the young man even more.

Oh. I wouldn't bump Clarkson for Smart either. I think Clarkson has outplayed Payton to be honest. The Magic have only two more wins than us and they have Olidipo, Vucevic and Harris. Clarkson is playing big minutes and his contributions are leading to positive outcomes on the court, not just empty stats. He carried us to victory last night. 26-6-11 on 60% shooting with clutch free throws and a game winner at practically the buzzer. He's not just scoring because "someone on the court has to." He's scoring big buckets at key times. He gets fouled and sinks pressure free throws.
