How many owners are in Vegas watching their SL team play?

I give Jim props. Stupid fans doing stupid things, nothing special.

I'm not the biggest Jim Buss fan, but that bothered me too. Give the man his fair shake to see if he can deliver on his promise. Then we can decide what to make of him.

not to nitpick at details hashed over a million times, but i'm pretty sure that the godfather had some say in both brown and dantoni's appointments. those were the momentum killers. byron was just the really dull nail in the coffin.

jim buss doesn't deserve the criticism he gets. if anything, he is, appropriately, a rather hands-off owner. i mean, mark cuban kept his team from drafting antetekounpo...yipes!

if you believe that everything ultimately falls at the feet of the big cheese, then i refer to my initial point in this thread: now's not the time to be booing the boss. last year. the year before. not now. you can't just credit ryan west for ingram and russell because he's new and less of the stink of previous failure upon him. hell, jimmy was one of the main bynum proponents--he saved us from drafting sean may's fat useless a**. think about it...

^...agree on D'Antoni but Brown was impulsive.

@LTLakerFan I've explained my position on this at least a dozen times. :) I do want Jim fired and he deserves it. I know we're all very happy with the drafting but nobody in my opinion has explained well enough how a person can drag our team through the dark ages and not feel repercussions of that. I'm not sure booing him at the game is appropriate. Like I said it feels mean.

I have never blamed him by himself. Check my post history if you'd like, but I've never been a "I hate Jim" guy. I've always been a "Jim gets more blame than he deserves" guy. At this point though changes should (and almost certainly will) be made. This team is built well for the future, but it doesn't meet the deadline he put on himself.

Another point nobody has really killed I think is that public perception has become an issue too. Yes I understand that free agents will come when the team is better but they'd sure get here faster if we had better salesmen at the helm. I'm not trying get to rain on the parade. I'm not that guy obviously as the father of the optimism thread. I just think it's better that he go. I still appreciate the work he's put in, but he really brought this on himself.

Huh real? :KobeConfused: Why are you talking to me again about this. Last thing I said to you on the subject was I had been giving "likes" to your more recent posts on Mitch and shared a couple cold Lakers beers with you. Nothing on the last page was even said to you about Jim or Mitch. Why are you picking on me now? Where's a mod!?

Edit. Oh I see. I was talking to sirron about his constant mocking gifs on Jimmy and sending them to Jeanie. Your post was right above his gif and then you saw this comment below his gif and thought I was responding to your post.

"Dude you really want him to have to quit or be fired, don't you? Careful for what you wish for if it means Mitch winds up going too so Jeanie 2 basketballs can bring old f*** Phil back in to have ALL the power. Then you can kiss Ryan West goodbye too. Just sayin'."

We drafted great and the future pieces are set. I like our FO's stategy. Firing Jim would potentially bring more bad (ie Mitch+Ryan out, Phil in, knee-jerk trades) than good at this juncture.

You can say all you want that the coaching hires were terrible (and they were) but the Lakers also didn't have too many options.

Its not like they desperately wanted Scott...they took 3 months to search and had like 4 interviews with Scott...there just weren't too many guys available.

Also for me, Phil wasn't an option. He is literally a basketball dinasour at this point.

Is this the final year of his self imposed promise to get the Lakers to the WCF? And does anyone really believe he'll step down when we don't get there?

He won't need to after this team gets to the WCF this year. :Jacksnicker:

This is his last year but he tried to stretch it out another year in one of his interviews. No I don't expect him to step down but I'm pretty sure Jeanie will fire him if she has to. She's certainly threatened to do it through her new mouthpiece.
