I recall West put it out there formally that DAR would be his pick .... best talent in the draft. That happened right? And would love to have heard him break it down over taking KAT. That said said maybe Jerry didn't realize what a "yapper first" personality Russell would turn out to be over .... say the Ingram low profile grind on your game, Bryant like attitude and approach.

If Ball declares and we land him, they can pair both in the backcourt and then give Russell the Norm Nixon treatment after a couple of seasons. :)

Ok I get you now. Yeah, I was not enthused about the Magic hire, it felt as creative on Jeanie's part as hiring B0ron. As if hiring someone that has success for you as player in the past will somehow spread the success of that era to new players, it doesn't work that way. But, I'm not as down on it as I was initially, because then I wasn't sure of Magic's role, I didn't want him taking over for Jim or Mitch because he doesn't seem any more qualified. He seems to be more in the role of looking at what's wrong with the franchise, helping hire the right people to take over for the current wrong people, and being a part of our pitches to free agents in the future, and I don't have an issue with any of that.

Russell could be a good pick, the right pick, and still not be a great player. Just sayin'.

Right, but that's not what West said.

“I think he’s terrific,” West said.

    He said it without hesitation.

“He passes the ball like, oh my gosh,” West added.

“He’s a heck of a player,” West said. ”People are going to enjoy him.”

That might not be "great player," but it's very different from "the right pick."

The honorable thing to do for Jim Buss is to step down and resign as he said he would.

Of course, so should have Byron Scott, but that didn't really happen that way did it.
