Even Darius Soriano , the most optimistic Lakers fan out there, is calling this mess out .

    It's time to riot ...

Yeah. I keep waiting for a sign of hope but no. I feel pretty confident that Jeannie is about to blow this again.

Jeanie has mo more shield to protect her from her ineptitude. First it was Jim and then it was Magic.

Magic, though he could have probably let them know beforehand, gave Jeanie a huge out by stepping down. It kept her from having to fire her brother from another mother. It allowed her to reset this franchise, by hiring the right/best people the right way.

Instead though it looks like we’ll continue being the laughing stock for sometime. Shes continuing with this whole Laker family hiring thing which is noble in a way but not how you do it in the modern NBA. Shes surrounding herself, and making basketball decisions, with non basketball people. Tim Harris is COO, Linda Rambis is some event coordinator and Rob is a rookie GM who is hated by the rest of the league.

I’m glad that Magic is gone but damn am I nervous for what we are doing moving forward. But at least now, any and all failures will fall on Jeanie’s shoulders.

I will commend them for this. This is what should go on 100% of the time. Business and discussions are so much smoother.

There just better be something other than the same old same old going on behind the scenes.

Yes what Doc said. ^^^ Finally after the embarrassment of the AD cluster bleep. We're in a pre - Pau Gasol home run deal black out phase mode like Mitch handled with Jeanie doing business one on one with executives to pull off whatever she's going to pull off. I hope it's a low screamer out at deep centerfield.

Leaks die down when the man that can’t keep his mouth shut abruptly quits his job.

    I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

So leaks about the coaching staff wanting Jules and BLo...leaks about Magic admonishing Luke...leaks about specifics in the AD package (when to this day no word on the specific dets to Kawhi or George)...That was all Magic?

Magic steps down and then Stein reports this:

    Still a coincidence?

Either way, whoever is leaking s***, needs to...

Yes, plenty of leaks post Magic, and it’s probably Pelinka.

Jeanie nipped it in the bud by putting the kibosh on all communication so she could isolate the source to get rid of it. She’s tired of looking incompetent in the media.

I’m starting to believe this is s Pelinka issue actually. Just hard to believe he acts like a petty, gossipy school girl.

It was reported from many media that the AD leaks were Rich Paul and Klutch not Magic though Magic may very well have been the contact for Klutch during that. Jeannie was (reportedly) furious with Klutch and breifly considered breaking ties including trading LBJ but has mended fences with Rich Paul since.

Maybe Magic wussed out on Jeanie and left but he shouldn't get everything shoveled on him and besides the man was not a hands on POB. He was not getting his hands dirty .All he actually did was be a face for our organization and try and recruit, which was hard to do because he couldn't talk to or about players. He can be more effective at that now as the social media world is back open to him and he can call and email players and say whatever he wants now. I really don't think that that has been grasped by everyone yet that the guy can do that better now. No one can stop him from calling players or even calling Jeannie and Rob and giving his 2 cents on trades/acquisitions.

Imagine when it comes time to recruit AD or Kwahi or Kyrie or Klay or KD etc, now we have a man on the outside who can call them whenever he wants, post whatever he wants, go on Jimmy Kimmel and hell, forget about blinking and innuendo, he can now just say what he wants to. Magic has himself said he can now do his job better.

it's not that hard to extrapolate that thought out:

"I quit because I couldn't tweet to the world about what a great player you are _____ (Kawhi, KD, Klay, Kyrie, etc) anymore"

Their inflated egos will allow them to listen just fine.

Like I said, their inflated egos will allow them to listen to Magic stroke them in the media just fine. Twitter sources eh? He had said straight up that he is going to do just that so I really don't care what the twitter "sources" are saying but the main thing is stop pretending that beyond pitching people (which he couldn't effectively do anyways) that he had some actual responsibilities here. If you think he was hands on with the day to days you're fooling yourself. He probably talked to a few GMs sure and we all see how that worked out. He knows nothing of the cap and therefore can not cap-plan, Rob does that. I am not worried abut magic stepping down at all.

I don’t know if players will care that much honestly.

It’s the role Jeannie should’ve had Magic in to begin with
