while I mostly agree, his job was not to screw it up. Lebron pretty much already made up his mind he was coming. Our team was trash and he still came.

I’ll give her credit in getting rid of her brother and replacing him and Mitch with Magic and Rob. Without that move we don’t get Lebron, period. Kobe advised her about that and she made it happen. I still trust Jeannie but I don’t like her installing Kurt Rambis as shadow GM. It might prove her undoing.

TBD. She got a ring. We got AD and Lebron. That all worked. But Rob really needs to right the ship this summer.

If she was to sell, I hope its the Guggenheim's. They've run the Dodgers like a well oiled machine.

She allowed a Championship Team to be completely dismantled in two short seasons and has her two most trusted basketball brains as Kurt and Linda Rambis. This will not change.
The only competent Busses are Joey and Jesse, but they unfortunately don’t have any real power.
There is no Magic trade that will fix the Russ situation. He will be moved, but we will be getting very flawed players in return.
Also, the inexcusable way in which Vogel was fired is embarrassing and already has cost us the option of going after Quinn Snyder. So far, he’s just the first we know of who has crossed the Lakers off his list.

    She needs to sell.

She also is responsible for us getting a ring after how many years of not even being competitive? That counts.

I don’t think we should pretend that she had anything to do with LeBron coming here.

She absolutely did. Do you really think Jim and Mitch were going to able to get it done? No. They would not have. If Jeannie had not done what Kobe suggested - getting rid of both of them In order to clean house and attract Lebron - it never would have happened.

From all the reports I read at the time, it was Magic who recruited LeBron. Anyway, she does get much respect for getting rid of Jimbo and Mitch.

Agreed FrontOfJersey22. We weren’t ever winning a chip again with those guys after MozDeng. Definitely Magic roped in Lebron but of course that’s one of the reasons she put him in charge. So again, what she did as owner solidified us getting Lebron which resurrected the franchise. So I’m not ready to give up on her just yet. This summer will be telling though. I am concerned about the trust she’s put into Rambis.

we can't know who brought lebron in. but it feels like the regime change was necessary for that. and jeanie was behind that. so credit there.

but some of the root issues didn't change. changing chaz the bartender for kurt rambis is, sadly, only a slight upgrade.

I don't know. Depends of how good of a mixologist he was. I might rather have someone who doesn't have any business being involved with the NBA who can make me one hell of a beverage vs. someone who just has no business being around basketball. Like at all. Not even in the sporting good section at Wal-Mart.

I do not think Jeanie herself is the issue, from all reports players love her, she really cares about our players, etc. LeBron has always spoken highly of her from what I recall. Her problem is absolutely nepotism, but mainly Kurt Rambis, aside from him I don’t have a ton of complaints besides maybe her cheaping out here and there. But most of our issues and reports that make us look bad trace back to mentions of Rambis.

I blame her for the inclusive nature of the organization--Magic, Rob (only here because of Kobe), Rambii. We should be chasing the best GM and best president of basketball operations and some advisors who have a f***ing clue. That has not been the case by any stretch.

The mom and pop nature we handle financial decisions hurt. Really curious to see how we handle the coaching search with regards to salary.

This won't change. Kurt is already walking around Rob's office with a measuring tape and an Office Depot catalog. That trajectory won't change either. Not until she's pressured to eventually sell.

You’re not wrong at all, my main point was she’s not dumb or a bad owner, she’s just too nice. That may change after multiple years of sucking, I don’t think even Rambis could survive that if it kept up, I really think she’d fire him before she sold the team. But yes, the Lakers are the NBA franchise, we should have the best of the best in charge. If Jeanie doesn’t eventually learn that it will be her downfall, but she still has some time to figure it out.
