yeah, them having the same agent may factor into some choices, as i mentioned in the other thread. wonder if we'll end up doing the ol' rich paul special and giving jaxson some cash.
I think they’re going to roll with Jax he’s not a bad player he just doesn’t use his head all the time, but the guy makes alot of great effort plays and his athleticism is great catching lob passes and things of that nature. I don’t really think any of the guys available are any better so we’re going to have to just see what he can do in a starting role.
Luka is going to make this guy.millions. Think they need a guy like Len for certain matchups like Jokic but Hayes vertical threat is is one real high level NBA ability and that's the one Luka (and Lebron and AR) can really explooit
Haven't looked it up to see what the qualification or metric are, but Trevor Lane said he's bottom 1/3 in rebounding according to cleaningtheglass. For anyone over 6-5 who started and played roughly half the game, TWO rebounds is brutal. He's definitely enjoying the early fruit from the Luka experience. Any future pay raise Luka gets him should warrant a 10% kickback.
you know hayes is just thrilled right now, as he may be headed for an above-vet-min deal when there was a decent chance pre-luka that he might have found himself on the scrapheap this summer.
Hayes is still in a pickle because he's at the point where what you see is what you get. His value is only there for the Lakers where no other team has as much of a use for him than the Lakers. If the Lakers can't find a better big in the offseason, that's when they're going to have to overpay for Hayes. Either way, I'm loving his game as a vet minimum player. He can be the Lakers 'Javale McGee' and that's exactly what they need from him. Also, I believe adding a few more lbs to his frame would improve his game massively. He gets shoved out of position way too often. Add a lil bulk to where he is still mobile but able to stay in position and grab the rebounds would help.
Jeez team collapsed after he got hurt. I guess not having 3 rotation players hurts (Jax, DFS, and Vincent) no matter how much other talent you have Hopefully nothing makor
Trap game. Honestly felt like a preseason game. I think the roster was just prepared to go on a one week break and didn't really care. If it was a huge game, zero chance DFS and Vincent sit out.
We probably knew this was Ainge's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. No telling what he promised them if they won after we let him get pie in the face for blindsidingly helping us get Luka.
It feels like the level difference between the 7th- 8th players and the 9th-10th ones in the rotation is bigger than usual this season .
yeah, and i think that's probably a good sign after years of basically 7-15 being interchangeable? the latter's ok if your top 6 are like denver's from two years ago or boston's last year. not if you're us. we need 8-9 guys. we have 7: luka lebron AR DFS rui gabe vando ideally, you want hayes at 9, but we need him at 8. again, this is why the mark williams thing sucked. if he was real, we've got the playoff-quality 8. as it stands, we've got hayes and knecht as fringe guys and then a pretty sizable dropoff to the rest of the roster, imo. thus, when we're short two guys, we can look a lot worse. if we can use kleber's contract and a pick to get another playoff rotation player (preferably a big) and find a 9th guy in FA this summer, we're in business. last few spots can be used for development (bronny, koloko, etc.), as it should be.
I agree with this other than I think we are in business now. This one game was just us, as a team, not wanting to be there. We have been on an impressive run and this game, while definitely a stinker for us fans, doesn't change that. As with all teams that win championships, we do need a few things to go our way. We are on the razor's edge with our roster but when everyone is there to play, IMO we are legit contenders now. Someone posted it already, might have been you, how hard it is to stay in shape with a leg injury. When Luka gets back in game shape and gets his eye back, we will be a tough out for anyone. I can't help but believe that being around LeBron, just by osmosis alone, Luka will have to pick up something about conditioning.
Hayes has been legit good most games this season when he hasn't been hurt. He suffers from Rui roleplayer syndrome though is that there are games he can just disappear. Sometimes it's pretty clear why such as when Zubac overpowered him and other games you're not exactly sure why (the detroit games). I guess where I'm going with this is he was the backup C only I could see Hayes being considered a legit rotational player in the playoffs, he's just being miscast as a starter due to need righ tnow
