he would be ok as an alternate second stringer alongside a vet min banger like plumlee. but we don't have that.
Hayes is useless on defense and can only complete a shot of it’s served up by a perfect pass at the rim.
lol, while i'm definitely in support of the established rotation when the season starts, i think the reporter kind of led that interaction. that doesn't take away from the general vibe that's emanated from camp, but no need to elicit stuff that the players have basically already volunteered. do like the dlo/hayes work, though, and i hope it's something the staff is considering as a second-unit go-to. might be able to buy a couple non-AD/non-lebron minutes this way.
Jax has been playing well? I really don't have much to complain about him - the lob threat is real, brings a bunch of energy, and the switchability on defense is nice both on the perimeter and allowing you to play him at times with AD. As long as he's not going against some physical center like Jokic, seems like he's really doing well as the backup C.
Really nice game tonight. The numbers weren’t flashy, but you could see his defensive impact in his ability to switch onto guards up high and his running the floor hard in every play. Like I said last season, I want another backup center, but I also want to keep Jackson because what he brings is valuable.
He does what he can , tries hard on D and finishes around the rim. I'd still like to have a better backup 5, but can't complain about Jax and his effort at all.
He has a coach/ former teammate who knows how to use him and knows his ability and more importantly, limitations. He's not putting him in for AD and saying, go try to replicate that. I am surprised the two big lineups are working. He's playing hard, bringing good energy. He's a good 3rd C option for us. Still need the backup upgrade.
His inability to hit any shot that isn't a layup or dunk is a huge limiting factor - i mean he has no sort of touch what so over but the pogo stick lob threat does mitigate it a bunch.

Len should really rotate to Knecht here. Partly teams aren't game planning for Knecht yet but you have to tag Hayes otherwise the lob is coming and I'm sure doesn't want his coach yelling at him for giving up as easy dunk
As someone who grew up living with domestic violence, this one is tough. I saw the video, gonna be hard for me to root for him
Weezy: I hear ya. Azndude: I'd be surprised, but let's see how this plays out. The video looks bad, but the incident was already litigated? In the Other NBA Teams thread I was responding to abeer's take on Braun getting into Rudy's grill last night and both guys getting T'd up. Which reminded me of off the court crap: like Embiid supposedly shoved a reporter who wrote something he didn't like, which is very very weak tea: grow the eff up, Embiid. Then I wrote this about Jaxson: >I don't know what to make of the NBA opening up an investigation on Jaxson from a 2021 incident. It seems like they - the NBA - wants to look cool. But I don't know. It was already litigated? In June 2022 Hayes was sentenced to 3 years probation, 450 hrs of community service, and 1 year of weekly domestic violence classes. But now a TMZ video shows up. I do hope Jaxson learned something. But the NBA has decided to get involved after TMZ? Smells. Maybe I'm wrong and don't know enough about the case. But it kinda stinks from here.< Has he done his 3 years probation, 450 hrs, and year of classes? Is TMZ the driver here? I don't know.
He can have already paid his debt and I also still have a hard time rooting for him now. I feel like I heard about this, but I don’t recall the details, maybe I forgot. Fair or not though, videos make things more real, it changes things
I hear ya, Weezy. I knew NOTHING about this, and in the last hour I realize I can't see Hayes the same way I did before, and no matter what the NBA's new investigation brings, I suspect the Lakers org is having a really tough time with this. I can see Hayes going away. If so, I'm cool with it. I would think this affects the whole team, too. Damn.
