Goodwin has never played a minute of playoffs basketball. I wouldn't be so quick, to try and extrapolate his regular season performance, onto expectations of him in the playoffs. Everyone needs to play their role, Vando has the ability, to really impact a game, in a 10-15 minutes run. He's going to be important moving forward too. Everything isn't always about scoring, we have enough offensive firepower IMO. Jarred is not in the NBA, because of his scoring ability.

The problem is we've seen Vando in the playoffs: it has been bad and teams have exposed him by making it very difficult to score when he's playing
The playoffs expose weaknesses and Vando having zero offensive game has been a problem that coaches have consistently cut his minutes.

His role isn't to score, we won two playoffs series without him scoring. This is also a different team, than what we had in 23. We could have used him against Denver, last season.

I'm not worried about Jarred, he's going to help us win games.

The dynamics of the team changed when Luka arrived.

Luka needs floor spacing. Not some guy who clanks wide open threes at every angle. When AD was on the team, Vanderbilt's role fit better because AD can space the floor a bit from the elbow and Vanderbilt can just crash the glass. Hayes is always at the rim because he's not a floor spacing threat so where does that leave Vanderbilt?

If Vanderbilt can't be a shooting threat, he needs to be a serious lockdown All-NBA type defender, which he is not.

He hasn't been playing good defense lately... It's average at best. You guys are trying to find something positive about him as a player but the fact is, not many teams would want Vanerbilt because he has minimal impact offensively. Just think about it from the POV as the other team... Would you rather guard Vando or sag off of him to trap Luka? Luka works best when he's creating and drawing defenders onto him. It's a waste of his ability when Vando can't hit a wide open shot. We can't have 3 elite shot creators on the team and one of their teammates is just impossible to play offensively. Vanderbilt has an offensive game equally as bad as Ben Simmons...

I'd rather have Goodwin because at least Goodwin can be a threat offensively and knock down open shots... Plus, he provides hustle and defense just like Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt might be a better overall defender because of his length which allows him to cover more positions but Goodwin has been very good defensively. He's a more trustworthy player in the playoffs due to his skillset.

Also, you acting like Vanderbilt is some sort of playoffs experienced player is funny... He's rarely in the playoffs. Total of 24 games and 15 minutes per game and they aren't particularly good minutes.

FOH with that hatchet job dude. Luka doesn't need a floor spacer. Period to get off. WTF do you think Lebron, Austin and Rui are btw? Do you really think teams are gameplaning Jarred Vanderbilt? Seriously?

You are over thinking it brother.

his lebron stats are a lot like herb jones's--whom everyone loves.

i think there's some overboard negative vando opinions, but i'm trending towards agreeing that there's not a great fit for him with the current roster anymore.

still, though, he brings stuff nobody else (including goodwin) does, and there's some value in that.

guessing in the playoffs we might go full games/series without using him much at all, though. especially now that rui is trending toward passable defense.

Lebron, Luka, Austin, Rui,Dorian, Gabe,Jaxson and Vando. That's our 8 man rotation in the playoffs. Dalton and Goodwin might play and they might now. The top 8 is going to play in every game.

i think the first six will all get 25+ minutes, and then hayes (who will start unless something drastic happens), vando, goodwin, and knecht will be deployed based on matchups.

there are only 240 minutes to be played, and lebron, luka, and AR will eat 108 of them. i'd guess rui, DFS, and gabe will eat another 90. so we'll have about 40 minutes to split among the 4 guys i've lumped together. more likely we see a couple of them get 20 per than 10 for 4 of them. just not sure it will be the same couple from game to game.

Idk..Lebron isn't playing a full 40 minutes every night, Luka probably not either. IMO... Especially in the first two rounds.

put them at 36 each, knowing some nights it will be 40 and hoping some will be 32!

Hopefully the role players step it up, and we can shave some minutes here and there. Winning 4 playoffs series is going to be a marathon.

Vando was solid last night. Good to see him go at Williams too. That kid is starting to get on my nerves.

I was ready to strangle him when he gave up that layup attempt in the middle of the second quarter and swung it back out to reset. If he'd just go up strong, that's an easy and one. BUT he had a great second half. I thought that 3rd quarter was probably the best quarter of basketball he's played on both sides of the floor this season.

This is the type of high impact, low minute impact we desperately need from him this post-season.

Vando’s intensity on defense is infectious and we will see him on the floor through the playoffs

He just needs to stop trying to dunk on people, work on a floater, on pump-fakes, something else because he’s making it too easy for the defense at the rim.

He has surprisingly little lift at the rim. Very swattable.

If Vando had springs like Hayes, he'd be a modern day Rodman. Can't have everything.
