This guy can come in and just change the whole dynamic of the team. He’s such a breath of fresh air on defense and hustle plays. It can’t be understated how much we missed him.

    Just an elite motor

Really liked that crashing board & dunk he got us on that Bron miss from the baseline. Textbook Vando play.

Ok..I'll say it out loud. Vanderbilt looks more impactful than Finney-Smith on defense. Finney-Smith is the better shooter though, that pairing could be something special by April. I'm looking forward to seeing them play together, for a stretch in New York. It really sucks that AD is out

Vando moves like he could have been playing, a couple of weeks ago to me too. I don't have a problem with being cautious, we might have played him, a bit too soon last season.

Has Vando lost a game he played in this season?

yet laker hater nation (and quite a few fans!) mocked people for suggesting the team might look different if they had him.

i'm still mad that after the conference finals run we basically never got to see that starting lineup again.

What’s the point of a post like this? Nobody was rooting for Vando to stay injured, and nobody was saying we aren’t better with him playing. What was said is that he doesn’t make us a contender by himself, nor do he and Wood/Gabe. People were saying we need more moves to actually be better than last season to the degree that you would want from a LeBeon/AD team. How that’s taken as mocking is wild to me. Always so much hyperbole around here, and people wanting to have gotcha posts against their fellow fans for wanting the team to be as good as it can be always makes me laugh. Yeah, you really showed us, the team is winning, oh no! Anyway I’m thrilled he’s playing so well and has pretty much no rust, just have to hope he can stay healthy for the rest of the season.

Maybe because of the constant wanting these things in your time frame whether in reality it’s even possible or not. We all want the same things but the constant do your job and do it now just ignores everything that needs to happen to get value at this point with what prime assets we have.

the point of a post like that is to make people think about sneering about the value of injured players, as if it's not a real consideration.

people were acting as though gabe and vando's injuries didn't matter and had no impact on what happened last year. they did.

vando and/or gabe might get injured again, and that would suck. but the fact remains that we invested 20 million in players who definitely filled important roles, and they were unavailable, and that impacted the wins column.

ol' bob todd signed good players at market or below-market value. when we have them, we're better. these are just facts that irwin must live with.

if you never made fun of the idea that it was hard to evaluate the team without vando, this post doesn't apply to you. if you did, it does.

    bingo.

I’ll never understand siding with a FO over fellow fans, but ok, whatever you like. Not sure why you continually bring up Irwin when speaking to me, I rarely reference him, and apart from that my opinions on Pelinka are my own. Not really sure what he’s done to warrant this level of loyalty and going to bat for him or anger in his defense from anyone, but again, whatever you like. My position always remains wanting the best for the Lakers, not just defending at whatever clown is in charge just because, if people did that Jimmy boy would still be in charge, results matter and criticism is a valid thing. I’m not of the same opinion as the FO that we can straddle some line of playing for now and the future, that some mythical star just as good as LeBron will come along soon enough to replace him, I want to win now while we have him and AD. If you don’t, that’s fine, but please, don’t act like that makes you a better fan than me, because you’re a loyal little soldier.

not sure how it's "fans versus front office". can i say the same about siding with biased bloggers? it's just a difference of opinion. i don't give a s*** about rob pelinka.

i "go to bat" for things i think are true. in this case, it's that vando's a good, valuable player, and there were DEFINITELY people (maybe not you, and i didn't name you) who mocked that very idea. i'm "batting" against that dumb s***.

i'm not trying to be a "better fan", whatever that means.

The point is why not save it all and find out first what Rob does or doesn’t do by the deadline when logically THAT will be the BEST chance to get the best results? Rather than making this about picking the FO to defend over siding with a fellow fan. I explained my point above and abeer his and you don’t even acknowledge. Just keep saying the same thing when both those are valid counterpoints. Try explaining why they’re not.
