This is why Bubz/Scrubz/Dudz is important. Look at the greeting they gave Markieff in his Lakers debut last season. Hoping he can give the same team comraderie and energy now that Dwight and McGee are gone.
Yeah, I'm guessing that Dudz is going to have to take the lead in the pre-game hallway pump up now that JaVale and Dwight are gone.
Just watched Dudley's interview from Dec 3rd. This guy is so smart, articulate and entertaining. Not only would he be a solid (assistant?) coach one day, he'd be a better announcer/analyst than most guys you see on TV these days. I just love having him on this team, whether he plays or not.
He definitely has a future in broadcasting. He's fantastic, and he has spent some time actually doing it when he was recovering from injury. I forget where, but when I first heard him, I was impressed and didn't even want to like him as a former Suns player.
Yeah, I thought the same after listening to a podcast he did a month ago or so with Lowe or Simmons (can't recall. It's in this thread somewhere). He really knows his stuff. He's going to have his pick when he's done -- coaching, front office, or broadcasting. Not a lot have triple threat potential like he does. He's very articulate, knows the game, but also knows it from the front office perspective. I was throughly impressed. I would prefer if he explored those avenues with us when he hangs it up.
Dudley should easily be a commentator when you consider clowns like Miller, wheelchair and of course our very own Capt Obvious are considered "expert analyst"
One of the takeaways I had from Dudley's interview was him acknowledging that there are some younger guys on the team that will be looking to get paid, but that he wants to teach them that in the NBA circles, reputation is just as important as your play. If you develop the reputation around the league as being a good teammate and locker room guy in addition to the talent, that's what helps you solidify a long-term career. To me, almost seemed like a polite way of calling out Schroeder and Harrell. Making noise because you're focused on your individual accolades and playtime will come back to bite you. Buy in and you'll be rewarded.
"Look at me guys. I don't have that much talent. Not in that great of shape. How do you explain my career?" udleyshrug: New Players: "Message received"
OK I did go looking for this in this thread and in the training camp thread and can't find. Where did you see an interview with Dudz on the 3rd, or was it one of the podcasts? Those are usually TLDNL for me.
OK finally sat for Dudz's full 17 minute interview after hearing about how intelligent and coach like he is but really not having experienced it last year, my own fault. Hell yeah! Very impressive. And he definitely sees himself as an unofficial player coach. LOL don't expect any attitude problems from Schroder as his name was mentioned the most, in a good way too. Lot of energy and a lot of keeping it real and him talking about teaching guys what front offices look for in players that are going to get them "paid" beyond just their basketball skills. Agree he has a great career ahead of him around the NBA in whatever capacity he wants whether media or front office type. Very impressive cat. Proud still too that when he's called on he can still deliver what's needed, with getting the ball to guys that are hot and shooting himself close to 40% from 3 last year. 7 years or so he says he has taken on this kind of role helping players up their game and get paid. Who's that ONE guy on the Clippers who can lead with that kind of charisma, seriously? We got a bunch of them! Well done Rob, again. And again, was so impressed with Wes Matthews, another dedicated intelligent guy. What a great squad headlined by two Hall of Fame destined superstars.
