He's got Wizards written all over him...so my HOPE is that he's salary ballast in a Valanciunas deal closer to Dec 15th...
Danny boy, he's all yours! Just give us Kessler and come off your asinine 2 pick request. Hawks salaries are trickier when trying to balance talent vs $. On paper, I'd take Capela or a bigger deal including Nance and Roddy.
Maybe Ainge is extending the olive branch so we give him our picks, which he covets. That is probably it. He is like, I will trade you Kessler and take your garbage if you take the protection off the 2027 pick, and also include your 2029 pick and 2031 picks. Lakers meet half way by replacing the 2031 pick with two 2nds.
ding ding! don't fall for ainge's stuff. he put kessler on the block this summer because they don't believe in him. don't mortgage your future to finance danny's. the only guy utah wants to keep is markkanen, who should be the only guy you want to add picks to trade for.
we know we talked with all three teams this summer. my guess is all three asked for him instead of a vet min filler, and this is now being peddled as "interest". declining his option would probably dampen any real interest from these teams, right? as you're inheriting a FA. we did this either because a) we're cutting our losses (ouch) or b) he's got more value as an expiring (also ouch).
I bet two of those teams we're actively talking to/ checking in with as we wait for the calender to turn another 6 weeks. Probably an accurate assessment. But two of these teams have no intention of even trying this year. Hawks were one of the teams linked to him before the draft. If any of them see him as a long term project they like with upside, then he likely won't go there and ball out this year. That removes the concern of them getting outbid and him pricing himself out of that $4m+ cap they've be limited to paying him this summer. I don't think teams are going to be lighting up his phone when FA hits, so a sneak peak does offer a little value. Outside looking in, if you're one of those 3 teams and you're discussing potential deals, yeah you're probably asking for the most recent middle first round pick over Cam, Hayes, Wood cause even if they weren't vet min players, you still know their ceiling. That's more interest than we have in him, so that's still something.
Lol..Jalen is going to probably blossom into a pretty decent player one day. One that we will rue giving up on so early. However, OX is correct, we don't have the time to wait on that happening, we are out to win right now.
This is bizarre if they were really interested in JHS the player the Lakers should have picked the option up. If he plays well for one of these teams they are now at a disadvantage in re-signing him. My understanding they can only do the 4 million a year deal
Rob, drafted a pg that cant shoot and signed another pg that cant shoot, all in one season....good job Rob
He already got hurt, hasn’t played in the 2nd half of the first G-League game. When he was playing though he looked largely the same, he still struggles with his handle when pressured
So frustrating that he's not improving at all A Lakers miss for sure Could have gone a different route with other pick
Undeserving but rescued from Page 2 just saw this from mehan00 on LG. “JHS was a scouting department pick. There was a Spectrum episode on the draft that had Pelinka telling a clearly happy Jesse Buss that the Lakers drafted Jesse's guy. Pete from the Laker Film Room podcast also corroborated that JHS was a scouting department pick from his time working with the Lakers and the chats he had with various people in the lunch room. The scouting department has more than proved their mettle over the years and deserve every bit of praise they've gotten. But nobody bats 100. Pelinka certainly has done things that deserve criticism, but drafting JHS isn't solely on him.”
