It’s 1 preseason game though, he was MVP but it was summer league, the guy will fall off, I trust our scouts that combo of touch from 3pt shooting, athleticism and dunking are a dime a dozen in the league
the only other guys i can think of that were slated to go top 5 but fell to the teens were kawhi leonard and michael porter jr. before the draft, i always have a list of guys i like and then have the caveat: if any of these top 5 guys fall, just take them and sort it out later. as of right now, it looks like about 10 front offices will be scrambling for explanations.
the GOAT Paul George? that kid looks legit. But we were covered at that position. Couldn't have used him.
Knowing me, I probably would be advocating for him being the 5th starter lol. My goodness all that dunking and shooting next AD, Lebron, Reaves, and DLo? And he's 6'7 so plugs right into the SF spot. Excuse me while I vomit more
He's a rookie and it's the preseason. We didn't draft him to be counted on for rotation minutes this season. I had other wishes for that draft pick too, it especially irks me that the Rockets got Whitmore, but it is what it is. He's our pick, we need to develop him properly. It might take some time, but again, he's 20 years old. All of these kid's journeys are not going to follow the same path.
Just noticed he had Mike Woodson as a college coach. Can never hurt having a former NBA coach teaching you the ropes.
The guy had red flags all around him, so I guess it's too early to say. For all we know, Cam Whitmore will be joining Kai on the #GOATLIFE train in a year. I think our draft team has earned the benefit of the doubt.
As well we knew we were at last going to be stacked with wings, some really good, and had struck out on a new young PG last year with Pippen. Now whether or not we picked the right point guard of who was available we’ll just have to trust the scouts and evaluators. There had to be months of conversation on this pick and what they see going forward as to what they wanted.
Benefit of the doubt isn't the issue. You always draft BPA. Especially in the mid teens and if he flops, it's worth the risk. He was the perfect player to get for a ready made team.
No. you don’t always. Or at least 15 other teams would have selected him. Time will reveal if that was a good call or not.
Well not all 15 but get your point. There was the string bean Frenchie and a few others all mocked higher than him before he fell.
Yeah I don’t know if I’m ready to knock our scouts or the front office over this. Multiple teams saw the same red flags. Good for Cam if he steps up and addresses the concerns out there about him but I’m not ready to say JHS was a mistake. I agree that our scouts have more than earned the benefit of the doubt and he’s already been winning over his teammates. I’m fine giving him some time to get acclimated to the pros.
Sorry this will be the Cam Whitmore thread until JHS gets his head out of his a**. JHS will be good but I'm sorry I don't see him being an all star ever...he'll be a solid role player...Lonzo Ball ceiling - which is good for THIS team probably. But Cam? He can become THAT guy....and he's probably the 3rd best rookie behind Wemby and Scoot (and honestly he might be better than Scoot at this very moment but I expect Scoot to be really good)
