Is Thon Maker 23/24 Years Old?

    During the draft, a lot of teams were hesitant on drafting Thon Maker because of the rumors surrounding him saying that he's not 19 years old.

    There's a thread on Reddit "exposing" him of actually being 23/24 years old. Here's a yearbook picture of him (bottom right corner):

    Another user then uploaded this photo of Thon Maker in 9th grade. You can't really make him out in this photo, but you can see the same classmates as the ones in the previous photos.

    Edit with more anecdotal evidence:

    On a related note, Bucks have also drafted Ersan Ilyasova and Yi Jianlian, who are both most likely older than they claim. Lol.

    It's a big deal, which is why I was shocked he went at 10. When we first saw him a few years ago he was impressive because we thought he was a kid at that height and with some serious skill already, even if raw. But if he was already 18 or so and that skinny and raw and he's only progressed to the point he has now at 23 or so, it's a bad pick that high. 2nd round pick, sure, but lottery pick if you're taking a 23 year old you're taking an overseas pro, or a 4/5 year college guy, not an old rookie with little experience. I would hope for the Bucks sake, and the sake of Thon's character, it's not true.tt

    Yes and so did Yi Jianlian. No idea what that organization is doing or thinking, but they just love rookies who (possibly) lie about their age.

    Agree on this being a significant factor. He is like a real life 21 jump street or drew barrymore in never been kissed.

    not sure this changes anything for me. my concern wasn't about his weight/strength, it was about his lack of speed/quickness. picking him at 10 seemed nuts to me. we'll see...

    Even more evidence pointing toward him lying about his age. Susan Chuot says that she is proud of Thon.

    Who is Susan Chuot? She is his classmate, and you can see her name in one of the pictures above. A quick google search also says that she is currently 23 years old.
