This is exactly right. I want only positive things from now on....and last thing I want to hear is "Oh this is the Lakers karma for firing Scott, and had they kept him, they may have kept their pick since he represented us at the draft lottery last year"....
:Mitchthumbs:Well, today is the day. LOL. I guess I can't be so indifferent if I have been quietly thinking about this; anybody want to join me in the GT chat as we get the news, please join me.
May the odds be ever in our favor... A couple of days (and pages) ago, I said I'd be ok losing it since Byron's no longer our coach. But today? Oh man... time to pull every lucky superstition I have out of the bag.
I'd be lying if I said my anticipation of tonight's lottery wasn't making me extremely anxious. But that being said, what puts me at ease is this thought: I badly want Simmons or Ingram. I'm lukewarm on getting someone else at #3. If we fall to 4th, my excitement at possible prospects dwindles considerably. So with that in mind, losing #4 doesn't feel as bad. Oh and anybody but Boston in the 1 or 2 slot.
Yes. Last year's was Top 5 and this year's is Top 3. For what it's worth, should we keep the pick this year, next year's pick is also Top 3 protected.
Couldn't find `Top 5 protected` word in the original Nash trade source. I thought Suns somehow made the pick top-3 or 5 protected. Stupid me. I guess this year is the highest chance to keep the pick, then 2017 pick(top 3 again) goes to the Sixers, 2018 pick(top 5 protected) goes to the Magic. Unless we absolutely suck and keep the picks next 2 years, which i don't want to see. If we somehow keep our 2016 and 2017 picks, 2018 pick goes to the Sixers, and we owe 2 2nd round picks to the Magic as I read somewhere.
If Stern was still in power I would not be anxious/nervous at all. The lose a star (Kobe) get a top pick to compensate was strong with him. Let's see if Silver has the same "luck" when it comes to that. Having said that, we literally couldn't do any worse this season, we were never going to catch the 76ers so we are in the best possible spot we could get all things considered. We did it the right way without tanking, so I'm hoping the basketball Gods will have the odds in our favor for respecting the game (Yea I'm looking at you Philly). And damnit Mitch I want to slap you across the face every time I hear the words, "Pick protection".
Yup, it's too bad Stern isn't around anymore... he could somewhat pay as back for "basketball reasons" by ensuring we get a top 2 pick.
Now that we have it I have my answer, I would have been down, very down. We now get one of the best 2 players in the draft like last season, or we get to trade it for someone very good. It wouldn't have killed us to not get it, but it helps us a lot to have it. This is our reward for suffering B0ron all season.
I'm down with it... Number 2 that is! To hell with who is at 3! To hell with them! Sorry...couldn't resist. LOL!
