BIG fan of him quickly moving DLO to the bench- so far, it’s paid off. A lot of us here have been complaining that the Reeves/DLO backcourt just doesn’t work for many months now.
Different when you have a reason, know how to articulate that to the players and aren't just throwing s*** at the wall because why not. I had just mentioned Harrison's point when JJ called out DLO. Obviously he's not Phil in any sense and doesn't have that level of media manipulation, although he likely understands how to use today's media better than Phil would cause 1) different world, 2) social media, 3) JJ was media and very successful at it
Egoless my a**..complaining wouldn't help anyway, Redick absolutely wouldn't be fired in his first season. Shut up and just hoop dude. His play earned him a seat, and it's only been 10 games. More ball, less talk please.
He's been asked to play a role that isn't his game. He needs pick and roll to be a major part of what he does to be effective. He can run more of that with the 2nd unit to give the team some different looks. I hope he can embrace that role, as I think he could be great at it. Still need a better lead guard and ball handler though.
He would put up good numbers with the Wizards IMO. Perfect spot for him, no pressure, low expectations in regards to winning. Tinkerbell, Kuz and Poole, would probably be pretty entertaining, on a lot of nights. The problem is, he makes almost twice as much as Valenucius, and that's about the only guy, I'd want off that team. I haven't seen them play this season though. That's a good landing spot for Max too.
JJ has been very good, IMO. Cam Reddish will come back to earth soon, and it will muck up the offense, but unlike Ham, I do think JJ has the basketball IQ to make a non-shooter work with the starters.
And just imagine if he had a roster full of actual NBA players, like say if we had the Suns front office instead of this guy making 15 mil per to hide in the background and do basically nothing but try to not make any moves so he doesn’t get fired. Can’t make bad moves if you don’t make moves at all!
I'm not sure I would trade our roster for the Suns' one. Actually, I'm sure I wouldn't. The time to judge JJ's prowess as a HC will come. What I like the most so far is his ability to make adjustments, recognize the issuess and address them and communicate with the players in a way that seems to result in buy in, even if their role is diminished. His enthusiasm and care is also great to see as a fan, especially after having to endure Ham.
With Vando and Wood out he'll be hard pressed to match Ham's IST win. MEH has a different name now anyway. And By the way ..... starts up again with Memphis Wed night and then again in San Antonio on Friday against the Spurs. Let's try to win it again for the scrub level salaried guys.
I think so. Just saying it won’t be easy to repeat. On the other hand, if we stay healthy, get Wood back, Dalton gets over his rookie yips and starts shooting like he can in space, Vincent starts giving us 8 points …. we start looking a lot better to repeat. But tougher anyway. BTW … The Athletic ranked and visually displayed all the NBA Cup courts again this year and there’s some great ones. I like well done color anyway. Last year we were up near the top like 2 or 3? This year they ranked the Crypt’s court Number 1. Were digging on the subtle LA skyline and the use of all the stars for (“might as well”) “flaunting” of all our championships.
Yeah, sorry guys but I'm not ready to give him Riley or Phil status or even compare him to them. At least not yet. That has to be earned over time. I think he's showing a lot though and hopefully he does end up being the next great Laker coach.
It starts vs SAS this Friday and next game vs Utahin a week,Memphis isn't in our group West: Group B Team Oklahoma City Thunder Phoenix Suns Los Angeles Lakers Utah Jazz San Antonio Spurs
I think it starts tomorrow against Memphis per the The Athletic article today I referenced. But will google it and make sure. Nope you're right and they're wrong .... Friday it is against Spurs. Should be an easier game while we're short handed and still figuring stuff out.
