I think we’re stuck with him good, bad or indifferent for at least the tenure of his four year contract. Hopefully it’ll be a slam dunk hire. The franchise really needs this to work.

I practically hated Phil when we hired him. The one coach who's decisions and in game moves, I rarely understood. Riles was the one coach I always understood, he would make rational predictable decisions. I could feel the timeouts, substitutions, rallying points, etc, right on cue.

Injuries and Ham's mismanagement and pig headedness with what he did have available, plus him landing us against Denver again in the first round did us in.
Yeah I was hesitant about Phil at first. He won me over early though. The team did an open practice game before his first season in Santa Barbara. My buddy and I drove up from LA for the game. At the end of the third quarter Phil decided it was enough and canceled the fourth quarter, pissing off the thousands of fans who came to the game. I was ticked off too, but realized it was a brilliant move establishing him as the man in charge. Riles, I always liked, but I remember the criticisms of the Hollywood slick persona.

If you want people here to listen to your concerns, it would be more effective to stop inventing scenarios that have no basis in reality. Not a single poster has called this a genius hire, or referred to JJ as a basketball icon, or described him as the goat choice. Not one single poster. You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and you may end up being right But I'm a long time Lakers fans and I look for positives to build on Is this a hire that's out of the box? Absolutely But I'm going to hold JJ accountable like all the other coaches and maybe, just maybe this will end up being a real good thing for this organization In the meantime here's something to help you cool down : )
I am not going to sit here and call this punk a genius when he literally is not good enough to be involved in any NBA project rather than running his mouth on his podcast .we are the suckers who gave him his first and last NBA coaching job. I agree with what you are saying. Especially, the Ham part. I think it came down to just no really good options.
