I've heard the PC port is very poorly made. Like several streamers have just cancelled their streams of the game because the performance is so bad that it's almost unplayable. Even aside from that, on PS4, this game is getting ripped apart online. Seems like too many people hyped it up into being something that it's not, and now their let down. I got the game on release day just because I had heard some hype around it and I liked the E3 trailer from like a year or two ago. I didn't really know anything about it. And so far, I've enjoyed it very much. But if you're thinking about getting the game, you should know what you're getting into. It is NOT Skyrim in space. It's much more of Minecraft in space. There is only a very vague story that you can pretty much ignore. There are no quests. Very infrequent combat that isn't that fun. Literally all you do is go to Planet X, mine for materials to upgrade your equipment or sell, explore and look for a few waypoints, look for unique aliens or plants to add to your data log, go back to your ship, fly to Planet Y, and repeat. The planets are pretty lifeless. There are only a few NPC's on each of them that don't really do anything. Most of the aliens and environments look pretty similar after you've gone through several planets. But despite that, I'm still enjoying it. As the developer described it, "its a really chill game". It's fun finding new types of planets and just roaming around on them, even though there isn't much to do. The music is really chill and atmospheric. And I'm OCD when it comes to certain types of video games so I'm just having fun collecting loot and upgrading my equipment. I'm also very intrigued by the general "story" (even though it is very basic and not a big part of the game). I'll definitely get bored with the repetitiveness at some point in the future, but for now it's fun.
I'm not playing it yet, but I preordered the new Xbox One S 500GB console that comes with Halo 5 and the Master Chief collection yesterday. That's too much Halo goodness to pass up for only $300. Plus some other games are hitting Xbox that I also want to play, I've played Forza Horizon 2 at my uncle's house and I love it, looking forward to the 3rd one. Also doesn't hurt to have another bluray player, I fear wearing out my PS3 because I use it so much for that.
I got No Man's Sky and I'm loving it so far. The only thing I knew about the game was from the first trailer and made the purchase from that. Its very much Minecraft in space and I love exploring all these different (yet still similar) worlds. I feel like these days the bad reviews and bad things you hear from games and movies are usually from the loud group of people that over hyped everything for themselves and was disappointed when it wasn't Skyrim in space. Its not a perfect game but I've already put enough quality hours into it to justify the purchase.
I'm saving my money for the Xbox Project Scorpio even though its 2 years away roughly. I can't get myself to pay for the Xbox One S even though it looks great and I could desperately use the increased storage.
You can buy an external HD for the Xbox One. Just make sure it's USB 3.0 and over 256 GB (I'm not even sure they make them smaller than that anymore). It's like 99 bucks for 2TB on the Western Digital My Book. I got one a year or so ago.
Yeah, I've seen this one and have thought about getting it but I might just try to tough it out with the little space I have right now and uninstalling the games I've played and completed already.
If I already owned an Xbox One, I wouldn't have gone for the One S. But, since I don't, and it's now much smaller, slightly more powerful, has an improved controller, and comes with Halo 1-4 (and ODST I think, believe they added that to the MCC), and Halo 5 all for just $300, too good a deal to pass up. I'm not interested in VR gaming, so Scorpio doesn't interest me, don't feel like waiting for it. Honestly if all I ever use this console for is HD, 60 FPS versions of Halo 1-4, 5 and hopefully 6, plus a few other exclusives, it's worth it to me. I've been playing Halo 1 for what, 15 years now, never get sick of it, can't imagine a time I won't want to have it handy to play. Decided it was time to upgrade from the 360, have all the Halo on one system, glad Reach works on Xbox One as well.
Glad 2k17 is coming out earlier than usual. Its been one long off season and I desperately need some basketball in my life right now.
How is it compared to 2K16? Noticeable improvements or mainly roster update? I've got 2K16, love it, but can't help wanting this for the Kobe stuff and having Ingram and the updated rosters. I can't pay $60 for games though, hurts my soul, I usually get 2K games on Black Friday. Also, this one is especially pricey for the different versions I notice, some like $80, that's crazy expensive.
Noticeable improvements, mycareer is 100 times better. Game play is a lot smoother and more in depth. You can have expansion teams in myleague. There's really no "Kobe" mode in game. Ingram plays very fluidly, my favorite player to control. The soundtrack is also good too for me who appreciates there being more variety than just hip hop. It does have its faults though. Fouls are more realistic but that sometimes gets out of hand. There's a shot meter for lay ups now. Player fatigue level and recovery needs to be fixed. D-pad and timeout menus changed for the worse. Yeah games are pricey at $60 and more if you want all the fancy stuff. But if you have Amazo Prime, I think you get 20% off on new games the week they come out. At bestbuy, they have gamers club unlocked. $30 for two year membership. 20% off all new games (can be out for months, as long as it's still in packaging you get 20%). And more but too long to list the perks.
I picked up a PlayStation VR with a few games this weekend and it's pretty awesome. The immersion is great, especially in the games that utilize the Move controllers. Batman was really short but an amazing experience. It's in the same universe as the other Arkham games but much different. No real combat, more of a puzzle game combined with a mystery movie. Feels so awesome to throw Batarangs, pull out your grapple, or even just picking up a clipboard while investigating. Job Simulator is a great surprise. Probably the best games in terms of immersion since the cartoony visuals are clearer than the games that are aiming for photo realism. If you've never heard of this game, it's not what it sounds like. It's a parody. Set in a universe where robots pretty much run the world and so they give humans regular "jobs" just to keep them busy. But the robots don't really have a good sense of what a job is. Super funny game. Rigs is probably the most fleshed out game I have. People have compared it to Rocketball. But instead of being a Mario Kart/FIFA hybrid, it's like a Titanfall/FIFA hybrid. You run around in fast mech suits in a FPS and try to score goals by picking up the ball and carrying it to the opponents goal. You aim by moving your head. Very fast paced and fun, but seems like it has some decent depth to it too with a lot of mech customization. At certain points of the day depending on the lighting conditions, a few of the games had some slight issues with tracking the VR headset, but other times it's great. Last night when I tried playing Rigs, the VR tracking was very jittery so I started getting motion sickness but just now I played it and it was very responsive and no sickness.
I'm on the fence with VR, it seems much more promising than 3D gaming, but it's very early. Lots of reports about the tracking issues, graphical issues that pull you out of the experience because PS4 isn't powerful enough. I really do want to play it, but that price, justified or not, has to come down. I can't afford an add on that costs more than the actual console. Plus to get the best VR experience you'll probably need the PS4 pro, which I'm not getting, I'll wait for PS5 and stick with my fat PS4. If you have the means though, PlayStation VR seems very promising and is still cheaper than the competiton. If I could get it, I would, so basically, I'm jealous.
My new job has a perk where you can spend $500 every year on something recreational and expense it, so I pretty much got my VR for free If it weren't for that though, I definitely would be feeling some buyers remorse right now. I'm having a lot of fun with it right now, but I think you have the right idea. In a few years, I'm sure there will be a PSVR2 with much better tracking and screen resolution. You might end up missing out on a few cool games, but for the most part it will probably take developers a few years before they really learn to take advantage of VR anyways. I just hope that it sells well enough for Sony/the game industry to continue investing in the technology, and that some of the major developers get behind it and release some fully fleshed out AAA titles. Because the VR concept itself is really awesome already in its early stages and with some refining,I definitely see it being the future of gaming.
Well from what I've heard it's sold out most places already, people definitely want it, and I agree if anything is the future of gaming and truly innovative and "next gen", this is it. Just needs to become more affordable in time to get into way more homes.
