^ i don't think he will. We didn't see Ghost at all, Jon's last words were "Olly" and his eyes didn't turn white. We saw Mel though. Why would she show up at Castle Black if not for "saving" Jon? .
No, I'm talking hypothetically in that idea. That it would be cool if the last chapter of the next book reveals that Jon has been trapped in Ghost, and that someone else actually takes control of his body.
Spoiler Remember how the dude that's been rezzed like 7 times said he loses part of himself each time? I read a theory that Jon maybe wargs into Ghost, he is then rezzed and Ghost sort of provides a vessel for his soul to remain intact so when he returns to his body, he hasn't lost any of Jon and has actually added some of the traits of Ghost.
Good read on the speculation about what's going to happen with Jon. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/06/jon-snow-dead-game-of-thrones-azor-ahai-melisandre-warg
Good thing Martin changed "few things"... http://www.businessinsider.com/game-of-thrones-was-supposed-to-be-a-trilogy-2015-2
so I've only watched 2 episodes ever this past 2 seasons, and i understand that my understanding of the show is based on a very small sample size. with that being said... i saw rape, sex trafficking (of children too), slavery, murder, murder as entertainment (gladiator?), burning people alive, and probably many other things i can't think of that are terrible crimes in reality. can somebody explain to me the joy of watching something like this? it hurts me to watch.
The in between stuff that makes those things "make sense" in this horrible world is what drives the show. It's a story of the corruption of power and the lengths people will go to maintain and attain it. I honestly question if you really watched it or if you just read some whistle blowing stories on the internet about it and came in here to judge everyone. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it feels to me. All that stuff pretty much happened once or twice over the course of 50 episodes (sans the murder, that happens a lot). I find it hard to believe that the only two episodes you chose to watch happened to land directly on those.
True. But that's the episode he just happened to watch out of fifty? Maybe he did, but it seems a little hard to believe, especially considering all the articles on the web about those things being in that episode. But the burning and child sex trafficking, etc did all happen in one episode and one episode only. But the coverage on it was pretty widespread. Seems fishy.
i meant to say in the last season, not the last 2. but yeah, i watched 2 episodes - more specifically, the end of one episode (where i saw rape - my roommate was watching the episode an hour late and i saw a Facebook status about the rape so i went over to watch it), then a full episode (the one with burning and trafficking - i watched it after a finals game at my friends house), then i was on my computer as my friends watched another episode (again after a finals episode - and actually saw a naked woman walking through the city as people yelled shame). im not judging anyone. all i did was ask why people are entertained by it. i understand that it is "justified" by everything else in the show. but it's an entertainment show. i just struggle to watch a show that is filled with so much.. dehumanizing? i was also having this conversation with my friends, and i sort of realized that maybe it has to do with which narrative you're showing. is it from the perspective of the powerful, or the powerless? it's one thing to show rape from the perspective of the victim so that we can empathize with them and grow with them... it's another to show rape from the perspective of the rapist. i feel like the point of view of the powerful is more glamorous and "lusty", and the p.o.v. of the powerless is harder to enjoy and more dramatic. maybe that's why i don't feel like all the atrocities are justified in this show - they're shown from the p.o.v. of the powerful. maybe.
What? I don't know how you can watch the few rape scenes that were in this season and think that any of them were glamorizing the POV of the rapist...
Can you imagine if Melisandre needs Davos to kill Ghost in order to rezz Jon? Everyone wants Jon back, but the way we get him back pisses off people even worse.
Melisandre looks and sounds shocked, talking about "a false vision from the flames". I was sure she'll be the one to "help" Jon, now, not so much.
