to be fair, they paid vando 13 per to take the bulk of that role, and he's been out basically the whole year.

experience. very few guys are good defenders at age 20, tbh. i don't think his lateral quickness will be a problem that prevents him from being a good defender. it may be that he's just not quick enough mentally, but again, i don't think even intuitive guys are ready for nba speed at first. this is also a lot of JHS's problems on both ends, imo.

I thought he was very slow to change things up personally but he try, personell problems really stick out against Curry

good thing for Lakers fan is lebron and Cam basically fix these issues

Even then, he's always been an in bursts player who you don't load up with high minutes. So it's him, vet min Cam, inexperienced Max (who I think they expected to be at least a 15 mpg player based on summer reports), and Riley's latest voodoo doll victim in Gabe.

That's a lot of gambles. You need at least one sure thing, Ham thinks that's Prince. God help us.

The sad part is the gambles worked lol: Vando and Cam have been really good!. The problem is they've both been hurt - as impactful as losing someone like Reaves.

Vando, yes. Cam, ehhhh I'd caution folks against putting too many eggs in the basket of him returning. That initial stretch when he was disruptive on the perimeter, getting out in transition and hitting some threes was great. But before he got injured I thought he'd regressed closer to his career norm. Having any athleticism on the perimeter is useful, but ultimately I think he's a pretty good but not great POA defender, an average at best shooter and a pretty poor decision maker on offense. I don't think adding him back to this team will move the needle but I'd be thrilled to be wrong.

he's not a good offensive player: the one thing he has is he is big and mobile so he's still threat out there.
I disagree about the defense: he got burnt a couple of time against Brown for example but otherwise he has terrific as a POA defender. Not just in the IST but even in the Clips game where he got hurt he did a great job against all the Clips b3 when he was briefly healthy again

I think injuries have really slowed him down at times

When he’s good, he’s good, but he can be downright awful at times. I’ve thought all season that Cam brings us more in a supporting role than Max does.

    Didn’t watch the game.
You mean to tell me that a team that relies mostly on outscoring its opponent every night and who still can’t play decent team defense lost?
    Man, I’m so surprised.

The Good: we won the second game of a BtoB. Of course it was against a very bad team. But I’ll take it. Lebron looked rested and relatively healthy on that ankle. AD got to take the fourth quarter off. Game wasn’t nearly as close as the final score.

Bad: the bench played poorly. Dinwiddie looked rusty as hell with an ofer. Max was ok and Hayes was good. Bench hopefully gets Cam back someday?

Went Right: A win on a BTB. AD looked interested in goin' right at Wemby: 28/13 on 10 for 14: his daily badassery right there.
Lakers put up 27 3s - usually not a good sign, and you'd guess they were gassed - but they made 11. 40% from 3. Rui/Bron 5 of 7, but...
Bron 30 and 9 and you wonder how bad the ankle really is.

Went Wrong: Dinwiddie with the archetypal "But When He Bad" game: 24 mins: 0-1-1 on 0 for 6 shooting. Did he play okay D? Yea.

Lakerjones is right: we were up 18 late, the box score makes it look like a close game, but it wasn't.

Spurs are a really bad team but Wemby is ridiculous and Sachon is crazy good on the glass.

Need Cam and Vando back. Prince Rui just ate allergic to rebounding and boxing out

Rui, DLo and even Spence and Reaves who had bad games look really good in terms of shot quality right now

Not enough perimeter length and defense without Reddish and Vando vs Phoenix. Plus, the Western Conference is a gauntlet.

We can't rely on Lebron and AD to get all the rebounds either.

Does the trapping/doubling ever work? I'd rather guy's shoot over our guards one on one than to give up those open threes.

    Also the rebounding is brutal.

Can’t show up not ready to play, AD especially should have just stayed home to sleep if that’s what he wanted to do

I wonder if Lebron tweaked something, he had zero lift, once he came back into the game, after they were stretching out his foot, on the bench.

Rui and Prince are allergic to boxing and rebounding. Vando Cam and even Max help this even out a ton but we must have Prince get his minutes.

But Ham is in a tough spot with Cam and Vando. Last game Beal just torched Reaves. In fairness Reaves played pretty good D tonight but need those guys back. Bonkers but it the difference between the lottery and contender based on what we've seen this year

We can’t win if we don’t get AD playing at a high level.

There were other issues of course but we only go as far as he can take us.
