It was a combination of laziness on the part of the Lakers and SAC doing a really good of clogging the passing lanes. It felt like 40 steals. Effing dismal. The all-time record for steals in a game is Seattle Supersonics over Toronto Raptors, 1997: 27. Fox and Barnes had 4 steals each, followed by Sabonis with 3, and 4 other Kings had 2, while Malik Monk only had 1. Their starting 5 averaged 3 steals each. It was THAT bad.
Not many. Looked it up on Stat Muse and it's happened 23 times since '00. Some years there's 0 and then there's '07 and '09 where it happened 3 times in each of those years. Glad we could be part of history.
The good: Lebron incredible, AD/Reddish elite on defense. The bad: we give up too many offensive rebounds, we need another POA defender. Caruso please?
Right - Lebron was just unreal. AD's D. Reddish continuing to impress. Prince made a corner three. Wood was excellent off the bench tonight. Got the W. Wrong. AD's offense: ugly. Had a hard time holding big leads collectively.
Good: AD at least showed up. I wonder how bad his hip adductor is. I suspect it's nagging. But AD still wasn't That Guy who's supposed to lead this team. Bron: what can you say about the Old Man? He's unreal. Good to see Wood with 10/10 in 20 mins. The Bad: with around 6 mins left, Lebron hits a 3 and we went up 17. Blazers are in total rebuild mode. Time to push it to 20 and/or get AD and the Old Man off the court. As it was, they stayed in to the 1:11 mark when both teams threw in the towel. When Bron hit that shot with 6 mins left is was 101-84. The game ended up 107-95. In the last 6 mins, we scored 6 and they scored 11. It was trash, but I don't think AD/Bron had to be in then. But they were. If POR cuts it to single digits, bring 'em back in. I can't help but see one of both suffering an injury that would keep 'em out multiple games. Against POR? We can't hold a lead against POR? They had to play that extra 5 mins of garbage time? Still: it was a game we had to have after that rough loss in a BTB against SAC that ended our 3 game streak. Go up to Portland, get a win there, then come back home. Done.
G: LeBron’s resurrected three point shot. Cam chasing the ball everywhere. AD’s excellent first half D. DLO’s smooth jumper in the first half. B: Still giving up way too many boards. Making this game much closer than it should have been. The super zoomed out camera angle throughout the first half. The Worst: that mostly RED floor. Watching our team in the overly yellow unis on top of the red floor hurt my eyes.
All of the painted court/ tournament games bother my eyes. It was a stupid idea. Tourney? Ok. But no need to hype it with a painted court. Man, glad you said it. I thought I was the only one.
It’s to visually trick lazy millionaire athletes into giving more effort. Seems to be working. They seem to care about this tournament.
Ok this is what I was talking about! A while back I said LeBron is just more motivated to play tournament games rather than regular games ! And he just said it . LTLakerFan asked me what do you mean ? I said LeBron should save his energy for tournament games because something is at stake
someone should tell him that avoiding the play-in is at stake in like...all the games. and that if he wants more playoff game checks (and a shot at the legacy-altering ring he's supposedly after), that approaching all games as if they matter would help. because, for example, the sacramento kings sure think their non-tournament games against us matter.
But everyone gets up for their games against us. I think the Lakers have to pace themselves. AD is prone to injury and this is Lebron's 21's year in the league. Don't know anyone who has been in the league this long who didn't have to pace themselves.
The good: Lebron obvs, and the return of AD’s offense. The bad: horrifying three point shooting. Just awful. Also too many missed free throws.
