Sorry but am I the only one that's going to say this out loud?

Gabe Vincent was hurting us more than helping us. I'd MUCH rather play bigger than have midget Vincent out there playing next to DLO.

I hated when he was in the game, and even though he's a "plus" somehow out there, I don't see him doing anything that is a plus other than miss open shots and not bother anybody defensively (guys can shoot over him or go right around him).

I'm glad he's out because he was eating up wayyyyy too many minutes that should be going to other guys.

Once again, Darvin Ham gets saved from himself due to an INJURY

Not 5 games into the season and the Miami guard curse afflicted him…but at least we saved 1 million for buy out candidates instead of having Schroeder, who is almost never injured even when injured during a game:LLLLLebronlaughing:anyone remember that game where he twisted his ankle badly retaped it and won the game by himself, good times

Hey at least we got 4 games of Gabe at SF ;). Nunn got his career ending bone bruise before the season even started, didn't he?

"Panathinaikos (2023–present)On October 31, 2023, Nunn signed with Greek Basket League and EuroLeague team Panathinaikos until the end of the season."

See, that is the problem. He should play backup 1 and not be out there playing next to D'Angelo. And that way you could utilize some of his strengths without him playing too many minutes.

Vincent is 6'2, D'Angelo is 6'4..they are the " smallest" guys on the team. That isn't really small. Teams are playing "smallish" guards together, all over the league. It's kind of a thing.

It is if you play small. Some if it has to do with wing span and some of it has to do with jumping ability and some of it has to do with foot speed. One way or the other, I think the pair would work if Vincent was able to buy a three pointer. The issue is magnified by his going 0-11 from three so far.

yes, and teams have done it before to great success...but that's usually for offensive purposes (i.e., the two small guards make the offense incredibly potent). i haven't seen that work for us yet, so i'm inclined to lean into being bigger than others as often as possible. that doesn't mean don't play gabe at all, just that we should maximize size at the other spots while he's out there.

I understand that they must make some shots though. I'm still giving Gabe some leeway on his potential defensive impact. Maybe his knee issue has contributed to the uneven start. I hope this is not going to turn into a serious problem. He's a scrappy "little " dude.

With this team, bigger is better!
I loved what Gabe did for Miami last year, but with us, he’s been disappointing so far.

As I’ve said before, I don’t really get the Vincent hate. He’s a decent defender and hustle guy. But he’s not starting material and he’s not a good fit with Dlo. As others have mentioned he’s fine as a backup 1. Not as good as Dennis so far but solid except for the distance shooting.

he has played fine, but I think fans hate the results with two small guards in the lineup. No need. Just stagger our PGs.

interesting little tidbit there. he doesn't say it, but it sounds like he's more upset they didn't offer more, because as he admits, factoring in the taxes you end up not that far ahead. i wonder if he asked miami to up its offer so that after taxes it matched, and they declined. i also wonder if he might have asked for a player option from them or something like that.

i'm bummed he can't play against miami, because i think he probably shows up big for that one and helps us win. instead, we're once again a huge home game for a team trying to make a statement.

I agree, the hate comes from frustration with bad line ups.

gabe looks about like i expected, save for those early three point woes. smart, tough, dfish-esque. not the quickest, not going to lock anyone or break anyone down, but also likely to just be in the right places and not shrink. probably a bit overpaid, but his biggest sin is that he's not schroder. that's not his fault, though.
