the last question was good, but kind of awkwardly stated, imo. the better question is: what do you think happened last summer to make you die suddenly, and what did you do differently so that you might stop stealing our money?

kidding, but my concern last year (as with wood) was that he took it too easy in the summer, and that set him up for injury. thus, i'm not super encouraged by his answer that he basically took it easy this summer.

maybe my own personal experience biases me too much here, but when i developed nagging injuries was coming off breaks and not ramping up properly.

 …. yeah like who could have even imagined that it might even remotely be possible of two guys here in Gabe and JHS …. that they both would raise their games this year over last year immensely  . Same with some other key players getting ready to show it …. watch.

we don't need 10 players on the injured list..... unless he secretly wants a whole new team!

The way we handled the injuries of Vincent, Wood and Vando was weird. Hoping to see him stay healthy and have a chance to show he isn't like another former Miami player.

JJ needs only one Gabe Vincent to miss shots as much as 10 Gabe Vincents

You guys buried this dude prematurely.
When healthy, he’s a legit bench player.

the "dead" thing is sort of a long-running joke. i liked the signing and thought he would have really helped us if he were healthy last year. perfect complement to dlo, imo.

Yeah, he can definitely have a legit role and be a good ying to DLO's yang. Where i think we'll be disappointed is if we expect him to perform to the level of his one overachieving playoff run and i do feel that is what he was paid based on.

That said, a trade comes up to address one of our more pressing needs and his salary gets it done...

his salary is around the range of some bigs we could use. though i wouldn't be that quick to move him. you'd have to be sure jhs could play real minutes or that dlo was being upgraded (which isn't as easy as people constantly suggest). reaves and lebron can't play pg (as is being discussed in other threads). nor can max. we really only have two (plus jhs) on the roster.

The center is a big enough need to prevent Christie at PF nights like we saw Friday that I'd be willing to figure out the backup PG minutes.

IF we keep DLO: Austin is going to be on the ball more this year. Hub AD and Bron will eat into that a little. Max can be a secondary creator in some lineups. We really need to figure out by mid December what JHS can do this year. Can he be at least better than Mays or another 10 day level guy you can pickup? If he can at least do that, then go sign Fultz off the couch and they can split those backup and 3rd string minutes after a trade. This 18-20 minutes can be spliced any number of ways and you'll be fine

IF DLO is moved this year: that changes everything. Gabe can start, those others can't. But if we don't anticipate the market being better at the deadline, then move Gabe, filler and 2nds for that big.

for the first part of the season, you have AD/hayes and lebron/rui to play c and pf. hopefully, wood and vando come back and can each get some minutes there, too.

i know we're scared about no centers, but that period when ham benched dlo and gabe was hurt was BRUTAL last year.

I'm more worried about Bron and AD missing games than I am than the collective of DLO, Austin, Max, and even JHS.

If one sits, history shows the other is more likely to as well and we just punt that game. JJ might not be about that, so maybe that factors in.

Like you in the other thread, I'm not counting on Vando. Feet injuries, surgery and not having played basketball in close to a year by the time he's back. He's coat pocket money to me at this point. Wood, eek! Hopefully. Hopefully he's in shape this time. Hopefully he stays healthy. Hopefully he's closer to what he was in Detroit and Dallas. There's a reason this is his last chance though.

 .... Slick thought it was genius of Ham with BOTH Reaves and DLO benched, with Cam in there going for the Killer D lineup. I said no it's stooopid .... further wasting time with more experimentation with the starting lineup where he would do anything rather than try what worked well the previous season with either Vando or Rui in there instead of Prince with AR and DLO, when either of them were again available off and on from their injuries. Plus no way could it be used in the playoffs. I said it wouldn't last two weeks, if that, and was right. But it was Vogel who truly sucked.

He's worth 5 games if healthy. Lakers not having a backup PG who could guard quick dudes was a huge hole last year. Gabe can fix that hole.

Doesn't fix the Denver issues but a ton of teams like Kings worked the Lakers over without Schroeder around
