But to his main point, I don't think it would be bad for basketball either. If an up and coming program pulled off the gold, it would be incredible for international bball growth all over the world. We're already seeing surprises this year with traditional contenders, so as the level of play continues to grow across the world, I expect to see more and more competitive games, new champions, etc.

Granted. Just that of course it was big Lakers troll Barkley. How many times over the considerable years he’s been doing this …. has he bad mouthed the Lakers in some way. And how often has he been wrong over his matter of fact crystal ball statements. Screw him. :swear:

he is there for entertainment purposes, not quality takes on the NBA. He comments on people he doesn't even know or care about. His preparation is weak sauce. He gets by on personality and just being a fan of the game and watching 2-5% of the games max. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a highlight only guy.

yeah, barkley's knowledge of the game ends in the 90s. the "who he play for" segment was funny, but also sad because dude, you have one job--and you don't even know half the players in the league. how am i supposed to take you seriously?

    but i'm really not.

also, i think team usa losing in basketball to create more international excitement has already happened, twice really. and there will likely be another wave of golden eras for international teams in the coming years, too, along with our waxing and waning interest in sending our best to these competitions.

if we'd have sent a similar caliber team when spain, argentina, serbia, and france had their loaded rosters, we'd probably not have been favorites, tbh.

Yeah with the Olympics next year it would surely be nice to see a team getting the better of the USA. We may get a 40y old LeBron coming to rescue a gold medal, it's history.

But I also don't get the hate on this team. Sure it's not the top15 of the NBA but that's because a) that top15 has like half non-americans b) the other half is over 30

Hali or Ant will be top10 in their prime. This has almost all top under 25 american players of the league, it's good to start some kind of chemistry for the next 10 years

Another thing is that America needs to realize that today's top 3 doesn't have any American and the next 10 years are for Luka and Wemby

Austin’s been stripping bigger players after banging and bumping with them. Great hands!

halliburton almost screwed up that break because he wanted to get fancy, but his hesitation dump off in that highlight was nice.

austin's crossover into eurostep was also nice.

    what's brunson's fg% for the tournament? like 90?

What a pointless statement from (who is Noah Lyles) unless he can back it up with at least an opinion of what other team could have a prayer any year to beat them.

it makes no sense. i'm not even sure i hear the term "world champions" thrown about that regularly for the nba title. it's a strawman argument that is also dumb in its implication.

The official FIBA YouTube channel drew attention to the resemblance of Jordan national team forward Ronday Hollis-Jefferson to NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

“Kobe must be looking and smiling,” reads the highlight video of Hollis-Jefferson against Greece.

In Jordan's first game at the 2023 World Cup against Greece (71:92), Hollis-Jefferson scored 24 points, made 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

And today he scored 39 points

i and a couple others wanted rhj last season, iirc. maybe he'll get a look somewhere after this tourney, sort of how schroder became a hotter commodity after playing well last summer.

Those hosers up North look good, eh? Looking forward to our match against them. Gilgous-Alexander is the goods flying under the radar.
