I'm not thrilled with it but I've heard of this guy before. When Rob and Joey went over sees they got to see this guy up close. Was one of the guys they wanted to see more of.

well, we couldn't bring all these guys on board next year, right?

only positive is that if we went to all that trouble with bonga as our target, the must think he's got a super high ceiling.

also means by stashing him his contract doesn't count against the cap. Have to believe that played a huge part of this pick. They like the player and it doesn't count money wise = win win

    About Isaac Bonga

Isaac Bonga is a long, fluid point forward seeing consistent minutes against quality competition for the first time. Emerged as a prospect at a young age in his native Germany putting up dominant numbers at the junior level. Bonga has been a staple of the German junior national teams over the last four years while also making the rounds on the camp circuit attending the 2017 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp and adidas Eurocamp. Joined the Skyliners Frankfurt in the summer of 2016 spending much of that season with their 2nd team in the Germany 3rd Division amid appearances in the Champions League and German 1st Division with the club’s 1st team. Played the majority last season with Frankfurt’s 1st Team averaging 6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game flashing promising versatility.

    • Measured 6’8.75 in shoes with a 7’0 wingspan and a lean 200-pound frame last summer. Not the most explosive athlete, but has rangy strides attacking the rim and an impressive combination of size and length for a player who frequently serves as a primary ball handler.
    • Played a rotation role for Frankfurt. Functions primarily as a facilitator out of pick & roll actions. Has some positive moments pushing the ball himself in transition and navigating his way to the rim out of ball screen actions.
    Defensive Analysis

    • Promising defender with great length and good feet. Has the potential to guard multiple positions as he gains experience and his frame matures. Excellent rebounder for his position. Allowed 0.750 points per Isolation possession[62ndpercentile] as his size is a factor. Doesn’t always stay engaged off the ball or aggressive against pick & rolls. Has room to improve his awareness off the ball. Loses track of shooters at times, but often because he is helping aggressively.
Note: Although German, does not qualify for quote credit.

That's what I'm thinking. Frees up a mill and somen to contribute later as he gets more Euro experience. Are we sure he's not coming doe?

Also. There STILL seems to be a good BPA at 47.

I don’t have a problem with the player picked, I’m just like..why trade for the pick if that’s who you’re going to take. If it’s a stash player, why do we need to purchase that pick? Could have drafted a 2nd round guy to use later next offseason when we know what our roster better looks like.
